What else would they be able to do to be a good team though? They just opened a new arena so you know Steve not trying to go through a rebuild this soon. Won't be a huge market for Harden anyway going by the last few years so it won't be hard bringing him back since that's their clearest path to remaining relevant.

He has a $35 million player option. If he opts out, I'm guessing he's going to want something in the range of $100 million/3 years? He'll be 36 in August.:bryan:
At this point the best thing for the Clippers would be for him to opt in and then trade him at the deadline for expirings and draft picks.

50 wins isn't a gimmie as they get older and the 2nd round sounds like a pipe dream at this point. Running it back just delays the inevitable and devalues the assets they have even more. They can get draft picks and more for Zu (he has a great contract)
So trade the only player they have thats proven but not old and/or injury prone? And he is on a good contract? For picks that may or may not be worth shyt? You not bout to get a bunch of unprotecteds from a bad team for Zubac.

I'd offer him a 2 year 50 million dollar deal and see if he can find a team to beat that. But sadly you are probably right as keeping him is their best option. Not like Kyrie can be counted on for a whole season to carry the load.

Clipers werent even selling out games this season

they averaged 16,566, less than they were averaging at Staples (18,946, slightly more than the Lakers because their seat configuration opened up more seats)

Ballmer's done a hall of a job burying that story :dead: LOL @ Kawhi and Harden keeping seats filled
It was a rough start at Intuit Dome but an amazing finish. A bit of culture shock to fans who live out in The Valley, north of Downtown, and in the Inland Empire as Intuit Dome was way harder to get to than Staples Center. And for the first few months the only parking was the $70 dollar garage that they built for it. And Kawhi didn't play til almost all star break. Now there's $20 street parking everywhere along with the garages, more shuttles, and Metro busses running. The building was packed post all star break and into the playoffs.

They would move Harden and Kawhi before Zu. Zu's on a cheap deal, younger, and plays every game. He might f*ck around and make another leap next year which could put him on the all star ballot. Its also getting easier to acquire young players now than in the past. All these teams that already have their core and role players still have a 30+ picks in their stash over the next 5 years to use, but no open roster spots or playing time if their not lotto picks.

Houston has the #3 pick in Reed Shepard and Cam Whitmore glued to the bench and they have like two first rounders and a 2nd rounder on the clock for this upcoming deaft.. OKC has a million picks but they have consolidated any of them in a trade and will now have to draft players and find a home for them. In other words a lot of first rounders from a year ago who still have potential will get waived if they don't fit the team's current timeline. And the amount of players coming from overseas. the and the older players who refuse to retire which opens up rosters spots. Its bad to not have pics or not be in control of your pics, but with this new endless talent pool that's happening, its not a death sentance as much as it used to be.

I mean the reality is the window with this group is over. Zu isn't a franchise player and he probably returns you the most value right now. Not saying give him away, but I'd be listening to offers. It is tricky because yeah a bad team isn't moving a pick for him. Okc would be an obvious landing place, but they clearly don't need a center, same problem with Houston. 3 way trade probably their best bet at getting a lottery pick.

I wouldn't count on any past first rounders with potential getting waived. I would imagine they would get dealt before that, but yeah that's a potential source of young talent.

It will be interesting to see what Balmer does. He moved off from Blake with the quickness :russ:

Ballmer literally thought once Bron gone he’s gonna take over LA market then lakers get Luka and shut it down
And then y'all got shut down in the process in five games. I'll be shocked if Luka resigns. Laker fans are already sh*tting on him and calling him fatboy. He ain't built for that. Could be grand opening-grand closing :sas2:
