This is certainly an anomoly for him. His scoring is heavily dependent on FTA, probably more so than any other high scoring player in NBA history.

In the above link from basketball-reference, I set it to show players with
most 35+ point games in NBA history. James Harden is 10th. Impressive right considering he's 30 and still has some years to go?

Wait a sec!? Now I set it for players with at
least 35+ point games and maximum of 5 FTA (free throw attempts) for a game.
Of course you have sharpshooters like Curry and Bird at the top now because they didn't rely on free throws for big numbers. MJ is still there. There is still a correlation between the top scorers regardless of less free throws awarded. But look at James Harden now at number 99 from number 10. Harden only has 4 such games. FOUR!!
This guy is a myth.
(Though I do give him credit for this particular game which seems like the best one he's played this season. He was sensational. But let's not pretend this is the norm for him.)
