Albums Janelle Monáe - Dirty Computer (Discussion Thread)

Dirty Computer isnt a bad album and has a couple jewels on it/is fun overall but its not seeing arch android or electric lady in any way. Nothing wrong with that though all of the greats have a versatile catalog

This is how I feel with her. The music doesn't match everything she else around her. I'm almost always underwhelmed.

She needs to free Roman GianArthur tho, he's the truth

Roman GianArthur's I-69 track was fire. She should let him and St. Beauty finally get a chance to do a debut I think.

For sure, they are completely different albums and sounds. IMO, these songs are better than anything on Janelle's album:

Songs were cool but why do I get a SZA vibe with weaker song writing

Her song writing is bad and her voice is an inch above a low paid lounge singer but I'll check out her album though to see if my opinion changes and what the hype is about

The point I’m trying to make is that, if this album was as terrible as the comments/posts in this thread, then the album wouldn’t be as acclaimed as it is nor would people outside of this forum enjoy it. I don’t base my opinions off of critics neither and I liked the album before the reviews came in.. but I feel like it’s necessary to bring them up since most of everyone else on here (aside from a select few) are not feeling this album. In the ring of negative reception on the Coli, I’ll be the one to bring in positive reception. If that includes posting about reviews and what people are saying outside of this forum then so be it.

Roman is fire and amazing writer .

St beauty album was so dope .

Facts I know you are a big fan of hers. I even remember speaking with you about her in another thread.

I think it's solid but definitely a step down from her best work for sure. She is better then this and though based on peoples opinions on different forums some people like this, I feel she can come with something way better then this and DC just isn't for me.
