No y’all just don’t fukk with it because it’s not what y’all want from her. All y’all sitting here trying to do is pigeonhole her.
Secondly, you basically said you knew nothing about Janelle’s music, so who are you to say anything?
Thirdly, if the album sucked, why in the hell is it the most critically acclaimed album of 2018? Why is EL her least acclaimed album? Why is the Coli the only forum trashing it?
Oh I KNOW I'm right about that. It's sad tbh. But I can't change anything about it.You just proved my point with your second paragraph. I didn't even know her, therefore I didn't even know what to expect from her. I obviously wasn't expecting a certain type of sound because I never heard her prior albums. Like I said, I listen to all genre's including some pop, and it wasn't that great. Obviously a lot don't like it, and you do. That's fine.
You just look really defensive replying to every single negative review on here. If people don't like it, let them feel that way. You might be right about people putting her in a box, but if they prefer a certain sound from her, then that's what they want.
If your favorite rapper started singing, would you give him a pass for stepping out of the box? When Wayne started doing rock and acoustic shyt he lost a lot of credibility. Yeah he stepped into another genre, but unless it works, you don't get credit for effort.
The fact that most don't like it is pretty telling. And sales have nothing to do with how great an album is. Most artists best albums aren't their best selling albums.
Lol don't run now, if you love the album then stand on it like you were before. Though I can't say this album is better then Electric Lady. There are songs on Electric Lady better then this whole album and even you will admit that. This album was her trying too hard to be commercial imo and that's what hurt it a lot.Look at this tag teaming... well y'all can have it.![]()
Allow me to be immature and gloat for a moment.Well it got a 7.7... which makes no sense because the review was written like it should've been rated above an 8. But whatever.
Janelle Monáe: Dirty Computer Album Review | Pitchfork
I don't think you'd be able to handle another conversation like this.. unless I'm wrong?![]()
 I told you.
Yep, only artist I see do it well was Kendrick with TPAB and even he caught some flack for it by fans but if he came with an album people expected it would have flopped or been said to not have been as good as Good Kid Maad City. He felt he had to go outside the box for his sophomore album and he delivered doing that.Change isn't good for most. People/The consumer want what they are used to and when that artist does what they don't expect, the consumer is ready to turn their backs on them.
I'm not running at all. I am standing by what I said. I am just really aware of the posts I'm seeing in here.Lol don't run now, if you love the album then stand on it like you were before. Told you it wasn't better then Electric Lady and even hipster ass pitchfork knows what time it isI told you.
Okay enough of that. I don't even understand what they didn't like about the album which culminated in it receiving a 7 but it is what it is.
Also lol you know I can but the question is can you?

That review doesn't really match the score for me, but regardless they will have it on their year-end list.
One review still doesn't equate to 20 reviews averaging out to 91% which is a lot better than the 82% that Electric Lady received.
I dunno, my head hurts right now... but any other day, I can handle you.![]()
I might be too much for you lol.Yeah I felt he was robbed at the Grammys too and he made a real masterpiece especially for the time that it dropped and the issues it spoke on but that's the Grammys for youKendrick is a great example and is another artist I feel has progressed with each album. TPAB is that album that is praised, yet hated on (mostly by jealous people/closeted fans)...but it's a modern day hip-hop classic. I was heated as hell when he got robbed for AOTY at the Grammys (as well as for DAMN...but then again, the Grammys seem to have something against giving black artists that award anyway). Both of his albums were a LOT better than the others it was going against. smh. GKMC is excellent too (my second favorite Kendrick album after TPAB). He's the most consistent artist of our time. I just hope he continues pushing the envelope while giving us quality.

I don't think the reviewer actually is the one who rates the album. I believe all of pitchfork's staff comes together and they collectively reach that score. Once again, they will probably have it in their year-end list. They did the same thing to St. Vincent's last album (if you know of her). It was acclaimed yet they gave it a 7.7 but included it in their year-end list above albums that they rated higher. lol. Their system is interesting.I agree, that review seemed off to me too because it seems like they love it but gave it that grade but again I don't put much stock into reviews period.
The reviews may rate Electric Lady lower then Dirty Computer but more reviews still have to come in before we can say that for sure and even then like i said before I don't put too much stock into reviews.
Oh yeahI might be too much for you lol.
Go get you some Tylenol and rest up!

I also feel he is the most consistent too, especially when you compare him to Drake, Wale, J Cole and the other rappers who are in the same league as him, it's no competition. He always drops a quality album and part of that is the team he works with at TDE, they always come with something different and are great musicians able to help him execute.
Haha. Nah, but all 3 albums are great, I have nothing bad really to say about any of them.

The vibe of DC is 80's pop. If you don't mess with pop like that, you won't like it.stumbled upon her track with Denise Huxtable's daughter and it was far too pop for me
Does the rest of the album sound like that? If so I probably won't like it.
