See Bey and Mary did a joint

Janet, Rihanna, etc didn't collab with other blk female singers at their height either. Interesting

Dope she and Jay showed up either way

collabs weren't as big in janet's day

rihanna had nicki on Loud and SZA on Anti

bey, OTOH, had songs with shakira and gaga

but yes, that was genrally a critique against both rih and bey, especially from the crowd that felt they were blocking the ascent of other black women, they both sucked at collabing with black women. that said, this thread aint about rihanna

Nah this is revisionist history because what black female singers has Mary J Blige collabed with for example?

I just don't think collabs by women in R&B have ever been a thing like that unless there was a story behind it like Whitney vs Mariah or Brandy vs Monica.

They find new ways to slander my Queen

r&b features were from rappers

they rarely worked together

i said black women - mary worked with (and was friends with) lil kim, also collabed with eve, lauryn hill, patti labelle, rah digga, missy (outside of the eve track, most of these weere album/compilation cuts) but mary was always out there with some black women despite being known as not liking folk/not being nice

more surprised by Bey showing up for Brandy and Monica, she spent the height of her career avoiding collaborations with other black female singers (aside from a shleved single with Alicia), didn't think she acknowledged they exist :ehh:
So her like 50 songs with Destiny's child, song with Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Missy Elliot, Tweet, Angie Stone, Tems, all those black country singers are actually songs with white women? :skip:

I swear people just say whatever hoping nobody will fact check them

i swear your sassy fakkits skip the fact that we were talking about beyonce as a solo artist at her peak (ie 03-11/12 when she was dropping multiple major singles...) if those collabs were in there, cool. but this literally started off acknowledging that it made sense for her to be there for kelly (her groupmate) dummy

You including rappers too oh ok

Bey got 2 joints with Nicki

She collabed with Missy on her debut and gave Missy a couple features...

Not to derail thread

I remember SZA said she felt pressured in giving that song on Anti to Rihanna and regretted it at one point.

But yea sure it can be a dirty business, don't think Bey or Rihanna are intentionally /actively blocking any other artist though

Why do you think Beyonce avoided making music with her female peers during her Apex
