Him doing entertainment helps nothing. And the Players Coalition you speak of is totally separate from what Jay is involved in, so try again.

You're talking about fan fiction, but you don't know all the facts. You're ASSUMING it's gonna be a good deal.

"As part of the agreement, Roc Nation will advise on the selection of artists for major NFL performances like the Super Bowl. A major component of the partnership will be to nurture and strengthen community through football and music, including through the NFL's Inspire Change initiative.

The NFL formally launched the Inspire Change initiative in early 2019, after more than two years of work with NFL players, with the goal of creating positive change in communities across the country. Through this initiative, NFL teams and the league office work with the Players Coalition and other NFL players to support programs and initiatives that reduce barriers to opportunity, with a focus on three priority areas: education and economic advancement; police and community relations; and criminal justice reform."

This is a dumbass argument and it's one of those skin in the game arguments that is really flawed. It ignores the limitations that the average person must contend with in creating change. A person can analyze Jay's actions and understand their flaws, even if there intricacies they cant fully grasp.

This type of argument is used by people to insulate themselves from criticism. But what happens if someone who has actually gotten /kept people out of jail criticizes Jay's actions? Would he suddenly be willing to listen and acknowledge his shortcomings? Lol probably not.
Ignoring that this could just be Jay-Z using that statement as a way to shield himself from criticism.
You have to also look at it in another light !

Why are entertainers/actors/musicians etc. seen as individuals expected to have the power to cause
sweeping change in society ? And why is it that people are most ready to band together to dole out criticism
when they themselves DO NOT contribute to society in any meaningful way beyond being normal, law abiding citizens ?

It's easy to to criticize pop stars and rappers for their lack of activism, it's MUCH harder to really sit and come up with reasons
for their own inaction.

The same people typing up diatribes coming up with a myriad of reasons for defending or attacking Jay-Z could be thinking
about volunteering to tutor students at their local elementary, middle & highschools. Those same people could be participating in
cleaning up trash around their communities. Those same people could be contributing to a local non profit.

There's a lot we can ALL DO and dismissing Jay-Z's statements at face value don't allow for deeper discussion of activism as a
daily part of one's life

Criticism often comes from individuals who do nothing themselves. People love to criticize from the sidelines. When your actually doing and in the field you realize how worthless criticism is from people who do nothing. It’s the easiest thing you can do. You can’t even relate. The people who should criticize are the people who can relate. If you can’t your opinion is not actually valid..

Christ, East - this is so well said I had to snapshot it! Respect!

Yah, those NFL owners are definitely friends of The Blacks.
They've made more black millionaires than Jay-Z. has. They've employeed way more blacks than JAY Z has. By creating wealth and opportunity, celebrity status etc. They've kept more black men out of prison than JAY Z has.

What a terrible argument by JAY Z. This is clown yall champion.

any who knows better will tell you the public defenders have the most experience and just by plain mathematics and ratios and that they keep more people out of jail than a private attorney does. just say you don't know better :mjlol:

yall need to stop thinking every case would be a win if you had money. cant everybody get off cuz not everybody is innocent. even meek sat in jail as a millionaire. sometimes money can help eventually like it did for meek. sometimes you gonna take an L like every other rapper in prison except they spent a million dollars and others spent nothing lol

If the NFL really wanted to do something about “social justice” (which they haven’t even defined btw), they would have sought out people or groups who do just that. Jay-Z has no solutions to real social issues besides his “presence being charity” and throwing money at people, which he then turns around and uses as civil rights currency. “How many people have you kept out of jail?” is some real Pat-yourself-on the back sh-t.

If the NFL was looking for someone who could bring them into this generation music and entertainment wise, they’d reach out to someone who could do that. Which is why they called Jay-Z. This is an entertainment deal.

The sham press meeting and the social justice part of the deal was to help stave off backlash, which clearly didn’t work.
