i refuse to conform
Both went in IMO. I give Em the nod because he rode that beat to perfection. Also Jay was well aware of Em's verses prior to spitting his. We wouldn't say Em murdered BIG on Dead Wrong Shady remix, right, shyt wouldn't be fair.

how u gonna say eminem murdered biggie on dead wrong well when biggie and eminem never made a song together.

Em was spittin and there's no denying that. The way he was putting those words together was crazy. The way that shyt flowed off his tongue is just :mindblown: Even to this day I'd say the whole "shoe fits I'll wear it" rhyme scheme is one of the illest displays of multisyllable rhyming in hip-hop.
Cause, see, they call me a menace and if the shoe fits I'll wear it
But if it don't, then y'all'll swallow the truth, grin and bear it
Now who's the king of these rude, ludicrous, lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
Using his music to steer it, sharing his views and his merits
But there's a huge interference: they're saying you shouldn't hear it
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I'm debated, disputed, hated and viewed in America
As a motherfukkin' drug addict, like you didn't experiment, nah nah
That's when you start to stare at who's in the mirror
And see yourself as a kid again, and you get embarrassed
And I got nothing to do but make you look stupid as parents
You fukking do-gooders, too bad you couldn't do good at marriage
shyt is just insane. Verses like these just make me hate present day Em even more because he lets these skills go to waste now.

But Hov also dropped a couple of his best verses and he was spittin some real shyt that people could relate to. That's why I have a hard time saying Eminem "killed" him. Ever since Ether people been talking about it like it wasn't even close. This was some shyt that I know most of us could relate to at some point:
I had to hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles
Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent
Gotta vent, lot of innocent lives lost on the project bench
Whatchu hollering, gotta pay rent, bring dollars in
By the bodega, iron under my coat, feeling braver
Durag wrapping my waves up, pockets full of hope
Do not step to me, I'm awkward, I box lefty
An orphan my pops left me, and often, my momma wasn't home
Could not stress to me I wasn't grown, especially on nights
I brought something home to quiet the stomach rumblings
My demeanor, thirty years my senior
My childhood didn't mean much, only raising green up
Come on... you can't tell me Em "murdered" him on his own shyt. That's a complete lie.

The World, but from BK
nikkas wasn't saying that em got jay until nas said it on ether :beli:

one of hip hop's biggest myths in the last 15-20 years.

False. I think Nas just said it on a broader scale. Funny thing about this is that the song pretty much came outta nowhere. I don;t remember Jay mentioning working with Em at all while promoting it. I personally got the album(bootleg, beforehand) because I saw on the back that eminem was featured on a song and they rhymed so differently, I was intrigued to hear it.

Yea it's obvious Jay was great on that track too.

I think Em was better overall, and I think that's what Nas was trying to say too (he wasn't saying that Jay was bad imo) - but when you're making a diss track you're going to exaggerate as much as possible to make the other dude look as dumb as you can, and discredit him anyway you can. If Nas said "Em was better than you on your own shyt" - it just doesn't go as hard.
