How do you figure?
Sounds like you buy into that good MLK, bad Malcolm nonsense.
No, definitely not.
I added
"
In fact if we care about how one portrays us, Malcolm did a pretty bad job until his last days.
Now if he was one of the greatest and most important people is another story."
To my post.
Portraying is one thing, actions is another.
Back then Malcolm was seen as a anti-Semitic, racist, religion switching, violence supporting, team-switching, communist former burglar.
Who was nothing but bad news for the improvement of racial integration.
It wasn't until his last days when he started washing his name and moving smoother.
Now the fact that he was making noise, gathering the minds of the people, standing up to oppression etc was still overshadowed by the above. It took a very long time for people to start understanding why he had some radical views and whatever.
Unlike other people like MLK who was 110% clean on some Ghandi shyt, however that came with consequences.. Certain black people thought he was a c00n, but since you are talking about how one portrays "us", I'm assuming that you are talking about in the eyes of "others".
