I'd be good with Garrett or Barnett from Tennessee, especially if we're seriously going to move from a 3-4 to a 4-3. Barnett is about to break Reggie White's all time sack record at Tennessee. I'm not saying he's going to be the same type of player as Reggie White, but breaking his sack record means something. I believe the record is 32 sacks and he's at 30.
Keep
Brooks, Brock, Kaepernick (even though they won't), Hyde, Reid
Brooks is still useful when he's engaged. Brock can be a solid corner in the rotation. Kaepernick has showed some ability to move the offense, we need to upgrade the position, but for now, i like what he's doing. Hyde i'm not sold on, but i'd like to see the line improve and then see how he operates. He dances too much behind the line, but the defense is always in the backfield. Reid is just a more solid placeholder than Bethea, i'm still disappointed with his progression.
Get rid of
Smith, Kerley, Davis, Harris, Bethea
I like what Kerley has done, but if we actually upgrade the position, we don't have as much use for him. Davis is more of a split carries type of back. Harris has bounced around for a reason. I like Bethea's tenacity, but he's just getting old at this point.

Is there anything to be said about Armstead being out and the run defense being much better
Who started at end? was it Dial? I'm sure that was a contributing factor, plus Brooks and Harold seemed to set the edge pretty well.
I like the progress from Kaep, but i`m thinking money wise in a complete rebuild where we probably draft a qb or bring one in, Kaep makes little sense.

Armstead and Bucker were both known to be bad against the rush this season, Armsteads gone an all of a sudden we shut down David Johnson? The rest of the year will be interesting

If anything it may help get a better rotation on the D Line. If this defense can stop the run at all, they can be solid. We need help at LB obviously, but I don't hate our secondary.
