Normally, I would back Jeff Van Gundy up on shyt like this because he's almost always right about what he says. You can say what you want about him but that's one of the things I really like about him, the fact that he's never afraid to say what's on his mind. And he is almost assuredly correct in the sense that Jimmy Butler will get a max contract from some team out there. But I dont see Green getting a max. I can see him getting paid in the $10 million a year range since Alec Burks just got paid $10.5 million a year, but I'm not sure a team is willing to shell out more than that
I think Van Gundy is trying to gauge what Green's value on the open market will be, and in a sense, he's correct that a team will overpay for him and the Warriors will have to pay a lot to keep him if they choose to do so. But I cant see Green getting paid like that. He hasnt proven nearly enough to warrant a max on the open market, let alone a max extension from the team that he already plays for
