Nah, Nas wasn't making songs with mainstream appeal beyond God's Son and it was done purposely. Untitled is an album where Nas actually made blatant radio records like "Hero" featuring Keri and "Make The World Go Round" featuring Chris Brown and Game. Other than those, all of his other singles haven't been radio attempts. "Spicy" is his closest.

what about that terrible Guy remake??

and that period where he hopped on songs with any new rapper that was "hot", knowing darn well he wouldve turned his nose up at 90% of them back in the day.

prolly more stuff thats not coming to mind right now, but thats already a helluva lot.

"Bye Baby" wasn't pushed. It was made a single because it tied into the theme of the album. Nothing really commercial about it.

What songs was Nas hopping on with whoever was hot? He was on album cuts with from Wayne, Tyga, and Nicki. Ross had him on "Triple Beam Dreams". Future had him on a remix to "March Madness".

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Same here.

I copped Illmatic the first day it came out. And to this day, "The World Is Yours" is probably still my favorite Nas track. But that's the zone he's best in. There are certain MC's who can do it all. BIG comes to mind, and a few others. They can make any kinda track and cook up a classic. Nas kinda always had a hard time making those party records. That's not his thing, and when he tries to do it, it always seems forced. I honestly think that's one of the things he's always lacked.

Dudes like Rakim and Kane could do every kinda track. Street joints, but also party jams that never played out. You need those in the stash.

Big and Jay couldnt do political tracks.

A song that sampled Guy was not a commercial attempt in 2012.

None of those features were singles.

If they followed Nas's career path, maybe they can have 30 year careers in rap, instead of the expected 6 month lifespan for their formulaic music

Nas ain't that deep.. no more then
Outkast or Scarface

It's really all about the beats

Strip club music runs the south now

And the south rings hip hop because ratchetness is at an all time high

Luke would eat like no other in this era

But they tried to ban him in the golden era

Dude, sampling Guy doesn’t automatically make it a commercial attempt. The song is about divorce my G. That’s like saying “Verbal Intercourse” is a commercial attempt because it sampled The Emotions, lol. You buggin
