That comparison is fukking awful.

Nah. It's spot on.

Basketball is an easy game if you just watch it. Weaknesses and strengths are readily apparent.

You can get more out of watching than you can from a box score.

If you're slow you can watch the game over again. Analytics is as irrelevant as spark notes for real students of the game.

What the fukk are you even talking about? You think "analytics" is a study of one singular game that you already watched?

Analytics is no different than Spark Notes. It's only useful if you don't watch the games. Just as spark notes is only useful if you don't read the book.

If you actually watch the game, analytics is useless.

Analytics like any other box score is a cheat sheet for not actually watching the game.

Why can't someone watch the game, then also use analytics to further examine it?
Why does it gotta be one or the other? :hula:

I just don't get it, its so hard to quantify what you are seeing and yet they keep trying :francis:

It's unnecessary and irrelevant. And more likely to confuse.

Stats will not tell you something you can't see watching the game.

Even at the most basic level, it's obvious this isn't true.

Watching the game alone can't tell you someone's ppg. Stats can.

Analytics is aimed at improving how stats are used.

Nothing wrong with analytics but you still have to use common sense.

But why would I care about someone's ppg?

I can judge how good he is simply by watching the game.

:hhh:
Ridiculous I can pull up endless threads/posts by you where you use stats like ppg to make an argument.
Stop lying. You are pretending that you 100% use the eyeball test and that analytics is effectively for white nerds.
Both are bs. You guys who hate on analytics are just behind the game clinging on by any means necessary.

Here are some examples:

You quoting Kobe's ppg
28/6/9 on 58% shooting against the brolic Heat.

Dude battled like hell today against dudes who are much younger and more athletic. Its pretty amazing considering he's 17 years in the league and he can still hang in there with dudes like Bron and Wade.

Its gonna be a sad day when this dude hangs them up. I don't think we'll ever see player extend his PRIME for as many years as Kobe did. He's pretty much been a 27/5/5 player for the last 12 years. :krs:

Did you count these stats during your eyeball test or go look at the box score?
21pts, 7 rebs, 8asts on 53% shooting in 32 minutes including all the big clutch plays down the stretch.

Kobe looking like Kobe again.

That's mainly for you simpletons benefit.

My basketball knowledge is so vast that if I talked all ball you nikkas wouldn't understand.

So I throw some stats around every now and then for you lesser minds.
