I said the same about Alex Smith. He was inaccurate, soft and made too many boneheaded plays. Then he got Harbaugh and all that changed. Harbaugh simplified things for him. Meanwhile who does Sanchez have? Sporano? Schotty?

Who has Sanchez really had? An oft injured TE, a good running game for 1 year. Weak O-line....2 receivers that aren't in the league (Braylon, Plaxico ) and an undersized a$$hole as their number one in Santonio. Then they finish the job by bringing in Tebow and an OC who's best known for the wildcat.

Yea Sanchez should share some blame...but you gotta groom a QB. You don't just abandon ship and let him fend for himself.

Look at what Cincy's done for Daulton. Same with Vikings and Ponder. Hell...Seahawks with Wilson...Panthers with Cam.

If they decided to cut their losses why even sign the guy last year? Either you go all in with him after that contract or you don't and get rid of him.

Smith is better than Sanchez. Smith cared, worked hard, and was mentally tough. He just wasn't that talented. Sanchez has some talent but his lack of accuracy, anticipation, and not having one an elite strength killed him. He really was over drafted epically. I honestly like Matt Barkley right now over Sanchez. Sanchez was completely overdrafted. Look at Josh Freeman, he is battling for his job and 10 times better than Sanchez. Sanchez really shouldn't have been a 3rd round QB. He is no better than Shaun King.

As far as Fez goes, the worst thing to happen to him was early success. The team just didn't think he'd fall to earth following how he played in late games + playoffs. They tried to be conservative with him. They coddled him to death the first 2 years. It was only when he was asked to take on more of a role where he failed. The Jets underperformed, but remember, they were 9-7 the year they drafted Fez and traded up. That team had a running game, an O-Line, a fresh defense. The receivers were ehh, but Fez for the most part had the very things you're talking about. The team was all-in, they had a short window, didn't win, and now we are where we are.

Some of the things that contributed to Fez's failure was shyt they couldn't guess.

Shonn Greene looked good behind Thomas Jones. They gave him more of a role and he sucked. The Jets drafted a project guard in Ducasse to help the O-Line. That guy is an idiot. Keller had potential til Ray Lewis lit him up, and he heard footsteps ever since. D'Brick was an elite LT, and then he got paid. David Harris looked like he was gonna be on some Patrick Willis shyt, then he got paid and got slow. Holmes was clutch. Then he got paid. They couldn't replenish the talent because they continued to trade up so much. All that combined with Fez simply not good enough has led to this.

I agree Geno should sit at least 3/4ths of the year, but this team on paper sucks, so while I like Geno, I wouldn't have taken him simply because he could be the next Jimmy Clausen

Geno is much better than you guys are giving him credit for. Much better. I feel like this is Cam Newton all over again. I am defending a player who I know can be a stud but others are saying he's a project. He might be a project in terms of getting to his potential but he can impact the game right now. He's just that good. His now is as good as rookie Sam Bradford. If that's a project, then RG3 and Cam must be the norm for ready. To me, just being a solid QB as a rookie meant you were ready i.e. Andy Dalton or Tannehill.

like Ive said, I wasnt talking about fez in particular, but more of a situation in which a fresh qb arrives....and you agree that when fez had that situation, the team was doing well...that they werent able to sustain is another question. steelers and ravens success is hinged on the fact they WERE able to sustain such success and extend it.

I dont think fez is a good qb, but at the end of the day fact is no one will be until the team provides a rookie qb with surrounding talent

even elite qbs need talent around them, and not just on one side of the ball. drew brees and the saints have made it to as many conference championships as fez has...and thats drew fukking brees, who is an elite qb and has an offensive genius who pretty much made him at his disposal.

my point if you keep throwing rookie qbs in dysfunctional organization waters, they WILL drown nearly every time.

sam bradford was and the rams didnt really become respectable until they got defense and a respectable coach in fisher. Im sure if sam bradford followed rodgers career path hed have much better stats and more respect from his peers.

and pip rivers, what the fukk happened to him ? dude was cited next to rodgers all the time but they took away Vjax and oline...what happened ?

dalton had a good team surrounding him and aj green is a top 3 WR now and was a stud from the get-go. rg3 had morris with him and skins were nearly a QB away, with shanny as a qb guru who is known for bringing up qbs (but not necessarily making them go to the next level)

tannehill has shown flashes but hes had more picks than tds and again I wouldnt say dolphins are as dysfunctional as jets.

cam is the only real recent example of where a qb came into a dysfunctional organization and changed the game..even then, hes not really a great overall qb yet, and his potential stays untapped because of him not quite making right decisions just yet.

The Jets biggest issue was playing to very raw weapons Hill and Chamberlain in key roles and greatly struggling in terms of routes and catching. Holmes who is a top 25-30 WR was hurt. Kerley became a good slot WR and they have some young talent on the bench like Jordan White.

I don't think the cup is as bare as I've seen at times in the NFL. Compared to today's league at WR/TE, the cup is bare. Hill needs to improve drastically. Chamberlain showed flashes but he has a ways to go. Holmes needs to be healthy.

No star WR's. No #1 . Young depth. The one thing the Jets have is elite run blocking and solid pass blocking which could improve if the QB was much better.

But...

They have a potential star in Hill, they have WR's who all have potential except Holmes, and they have a good OC in Marty. Who knows?

The cup was bare in St. Louis. They had no #1 's or #2 's. Just a good slot guy. They had a poor pass blocking OL. It was all bad for Bradford who had an elite OL, elite receiving core, and an elite OL at OU. Bradford had it made at OU. Before last season, that was one of the worst offensive cores I've seen since the Falcons first full year with Vick.

The Bengals was expected to finish 2-14 and that was looking at the overall team. You Monday QBing breh. A.J. Green was a rookie, while most expected very good play, he over-exceeded his expectations. Dalton was expected to be below average at a scrub. He was one of the better rookie QB's in NFL history.

[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88x3qPbATcE[/ame]

Morris was a 6th rounder. I didn't even know who he was till I watched them in the pre-season. He was a 4th stringer and was dominating. I was like...
:whew:
My co-worker who is a Skins fan asked me about him and I said he's the real deal and will do this in the season. He was unsure. Of course I was right. RG3 didn't surprise me, he was more NFL ready than Cam and looked like a top 5 player in the NFL at times as a rookie. Nothing surprised me about RG3.

Tannehill to me was the one who was raw. He was the one who I felt NEEDED to sit as a rookie. But he played and did well. He showed flashes of stardom but I really think he could be a very good QB in time. I wasn't expecting much if he played soon but I liked his potential. Still hate his deep ball but he is much better than I felt he would be as a rookie.

Cam still has untapped his potential and he had two best seasons to start a career in NFL history. Cam is doing extremely well. Sometimes you guys buy into these media heads too much. Make ya'll say some stupid stuff. Geno shouldn't be no 2nd round pick nor should Barkley be a 4th rounder. To me, that's stupid. Something about this year's draft irked me. It's like everyone is basing what a franchise QB is from RG3, Cam, and Luck. Those guys had better years then 99% of the QB's ever drafted in the NFL. That's not a fair comparison.

lol you accuse me of buying into media heads but then use the same heads projections ? :wtf:

I dont really care what media people have to say about prospects.
I cant make a judgement until I see the tape, and even then I can only see a tiny portion of game tape.

I stand by my point- nothing good will come out of a qb thrown to the sharks of a dysfunctional organization.

football is a team game.

the sooner you get environment that is friendly to the qb, the faster you get a good qb (or the faster you realize you got the wrong/bad qb). if you cannot foster a good environment for a qb to thrive in, dont take a qb just yet.

franchise qb pulling a franchise by himself right after being drafted is the worst myth generated by the media.

I do my own projections breh and I had Dalton as a 2nd rounder. I was just saying that the media heads just be talking man.

The Jets have a top 10 defense and superstar defensive player in Mo Wilk, and a lot of potential to be more. They are raw on offense but they have a sensible WR's core. They have a deep threat, a route runner, and a slot guy. They have a blocking TE and a great run blocking OL and decent pass blocking OL. The running game was :flabbynsick: last year but Ivory is one of my favorite backs. He is a very good runner. He is like Marion Barber with better hands. Goodson is a good #2 back. Last year, they just had meh backs. Greene is a decent #2 but is a horrible #1 .

The Jets issue is Sanchez. He is horrible. He wasn't any good when they drafted him. He isn't any good now. What's really the difference between Sanchez and Gabbert. Gabbert is more productive and he has had it much worse with a poor OL pass blocking which either had no running game(2012) or no weapons(2011). What's so bad about it is Gabbert is not productive. The fact that the Jets are more impressed with Tebow and Garrard should tell it all. You overstating how bad the Jets are. When they are just the face of mediocre football. Very good defense. Very good coaching. Terrible QB. Terrible offense. Average to below average Football. An absolute bore fest.

The worst organization was Carolina. They had an overrated running game. Poor OL. One WR and a couple good TE's and a :flabbynsick: defense when Cam was drafted. They were horrible. What the Jets are in need of is a QB, some of their young guys getting much better, and a leader.

I agree, you need to put a QB in a good environment to develop but what's needed isn't a whole lot. Atlanta gave Ryan a solid OL(very good running block, average pass blocking), a top 5 RB, a very good WR and a solid #2 WR. The defense is decent but nothing special. The Jets have more than what the Falcons had when we drafted Matt Ryan. Much more.

Honestly, the Jets are a solid QB away from the playoffs with moderate improvements to Hill, Coples, Chamberlain, and getting a healthy Holmes back. If Geno is much better than solid, then they could be one of the best teams in the AFC. The AFC is :flabbynsick: Outside of Houston, NE, and Denver, no one is that close to being elite. Baltimore will fall back, Pitt could be back but then again that depends on Ben's health and Indy could be a problem depending on Luck's improvement. That's about it. The rest is up for grabs.

Not pre-Harbaugh Smith. I don't think you recall just how bad he was and he was mentally weak in the sense that if he fukked up..he would fukk up again and again and again and is now so scared of fukking up that he rarely fukks up.

Sanchez and Smith are in the same mold. Smith also has 4 years on him.

the jets tried to give sanchez weapons. the moves just didn't work out for the most part. it's not like their philosophy was to surround mark with nothing and expect greatness.

they brought in braylon and holmes. they chose to keep holmes over braylon. as much hate as holmes gets, braylon hasn't done shyt after leaving the jets.

they brought in bum ass mason and plaxico.

they brought in lt to give him a lil safety valve type rb. worked out great for half a season. and then he hit a wall.

none of the rbs the jets drafted have worked out. they moved up to get greene.. they got joe mcknight, mark's college buddy. bilal powell hasn't showed much.

they drafted kerley and stephen hill. kerley's turned out to be a decent slot wr while hill is still a question mark.

i don't think sanchez is as bad as he was last year.. but he's still a guy that you have to hide behind a great team. he's not elevating the play of his team.. he's not carrying anyone on his shoulders.

his biggest problem is that he is mentally soft. he was pampered.. his backup qb was fukking mark brunell. you could see him sulk on hard knocks.. you saw his "why me?" with his shoulders slumped after every pick in the red zone. when he's on a roll, he's the happiest kid on earth. jumping up and down, doing weird ass celebrations.. but when he gets down, dude looks like he wants to end his life right on the field.

don't get me wrong.. the jets failed with his development. they made a bunch of wrong moves that backfired. but they tried. it's just that the guy making the moves was an idiot.

i really don't get the 49ers/jets connection on this board. but saying sanchez isn't a bust because he could become alex smith is ridiculous.

alex smith is a bust.. or at least a huge disappointment.

1.5 good seasons doesn't change the 7 poor ones before it while being a #1 draft pick. and he was another qb that had to hide behind a great team. it took a coach that one of the niners posters called one of the greatest football minds in the game to turn him around and make him a not awful qb.

he was having his best season yet and that same coach still decided that it wasn't good enough to win a super bowl. so he was replaced.

if that is sanchez's ceiling, then we all agree there wasn't much there to begin with.

the problem with sanchez is, he doesn't LEARN. he makes the same mistakes over and over again, game to game to game.

no one is arguing that sanchez isnt a bust relative to his draft position
no one is saying hes a good qb or anything.

however, like you say, the jets have failed to sustain an environment for developing a qb. they are about to commit the same mistake with geno if they are to throw him in the fire.

and again, hate to pound my point home for the 12983938th time on this board, but you DONT NEED a qb to 'carry a team on his shoulders'. thats actually a bad thing most of the time.

teams are too busy trying to find top 10 qb and fap to him then actually build a team and BUILD a top 10 qb with the team. you can call it hiding behind a good team or whatever, the fact is you need a good TEAM to win it all anyway. and if thats the case, why dont start building a TEAM and then creating an environment where a rookie qb can thrive in ?

trying to find a qb in a crapshoot who can turn a team of bums into winners, is a dumb and lazy person's way out.

the point is jets have a million problems everywhere, but people think if they SUDDENLY get a good talented qb they will stop. they won't.
