Breh Alex Smith still is trash. Dont let the fantastic run game and defense fool you. The Niners tolerated him, nothing more. I know thats your boy but
EDIT: Also, keep him on the roster. Don't take a salary cap hit. We will be terrible either way. Might as well let things run their course for this season. Garrard got to go though. Thats a baffling pick up to me.
When you have to build your team to hide your Qb's flaws that just means your QB aint that good. But with that being said, they should keep Sanchez until they no exactly what they have in Geno.
I dont really understand why is it so hard for most people to understand this simple concept. It's not that. When you draft a QB in the 1st round, you put pieces around him to help him along. You also get him the right OC and put him in the right system. I can't say thsi has happened with Sanchez. So they go draft Gino. They better surround him with talent or else they'll be looking for a new QB in a few years.

they really think a QB is magically gonna transform their team from bums to beasts with no help on either side of the ball.
overwhelming majority of the most successful QBs drafted in the first round had very good situations around them when they got drafted
jets went to two straight afc championship with sanchez as their qb. clearly they have problems far beyond the qb position nowadays.

Can the congregation say Amen!!!You can't change his heart. You can't make him more accurate. You can't make him more of a leader. You can't make him less of a bytch. You can ask him to go above and beyond his limits to see what he can do. The Jets did that and he failed.
If the biggest crime of the Jets is that they couldn't maintain a top 5 defense, running game, and O-Line over the length of a QB's career, then every team is guilty of that.
The Jets didn't ruin the next Aaron Rodgers or the next Cam Newton or the next Brady, Manning, Eli, whoever you want. A bum just proved he was a bum. Give him all the weapons you want, it's not gonna be worth it at the end of the day. It wasn't that for the Jets. The AFC Title games are a distant memory that are now nothing more than 2 more seasons we didn't win it all. What this experiment proves is that if EVERYTHING goes right (good signings, strong D, run game, divine intervention), Fez maxes you out at an AFC Title Game. Not good enough.
Yeah i feel dat but i just feel like people are talking like Sanchez was balling out and then fell off. When the Jets went to them two title games it was in spite of him not because of him. Though he had a few moments here and there.

this aint even about fez in particular, its about the approach and expectations of qbs being drafted. You can't change his heart. You can't make him more accurate. You can't make him more of a leader. and I hate to pound my point here as usual, but you gotta prioritize what you want. either you want your team to qualify as contenders and have a chance at a ring or...get a ring one time by any means.
brad johnson and trent dilfer have as many rings combined as dan marino, peyton manning and steve young
brady ben flacco all came to teams with a storied, great defensive pedigree. brady didnt even start right away. aaron rodgers sat behind favre in a qb-friendly environment for 3 years. drew brees throughout his whole career had one of the most talented offenses and some of the best oc's. so did pip rivers (not that anyone cares nowadays)
you have to have an environment to put qbs in and develop them. otherwise it doesnt matter. aaron rodgers would most likely be a bust if he was drafted by a disfunctional franchise. david carr mightve had several rings with the steelers already. who knows.
smart teams build a team, plugin the qb, build his confidence and teach him the NFL game. then they develop the qb to the point he knows the in and outs of offense and gradually start build around him on offense.
you dont go and take out half of your offense and expect the qb to progress further. you dont go and not draft oline if your oline cant block for shyt, to protect your rookie qb so he ends up scarred for life
the best way for jets is to let geno sit, at least this year; if he is thrown in the fire he wont make it out.
no qb would, aside from MAYBE once-in-a-lifetime-cant miss talent like peyton.
