Other black athletes, several in the NBA, have commented about the same situations and nobody had an issue with them doing so. Kaepernick's problem is what he chose to do became a spectacle and not for the reasons he wanted it to. Now it's about who's standing and who's not this week. The fact that these are protest has become inconsequential. The fact that a multi-millionaire athlete can't get signed has become more talked about than the racial injustices he tried to take a stand for.
If you're trying to protest something and the actions you take draw more attention to you than the issue you want to raise awareness about you've failed.
This isn't about a black man speaking up on issues. It's about a famous athlete choosing to deliberately take an action that people consider to be disrespect to this country.
If people had issues with black athletes speaking up on this why wasn't LeBron tossed from the league?
