I don't judge players on just finals records , that's a dumb way to look at it.

Its just my opinion, Prime Kobe is just not on that GOAT level, Bron is and he has the accolades and stats to confirm it

We are talking about the fact nearly every NBA player says Kobe is better than LeBron.

We are discussing why the guys who play the game almost unanimously have Kobe rated higher.

How is he right if he never even made the argument? He favors Kobe because he's from his era but he didn't use that in his argument. He used that make believe crap about Kobe not letting you off the hook which is more about mystique than actual measurable talent, skill, or gameplay. The fact that he was on the sidelines as a teammate when Kobe had possibly the biggest "let them off the hook" moment ever just makes the argument even more laughable.

I understand the argument against stats being the sole basis of any argument. They shouldn't be. But at the same time, the stats are made up only of actual occurrences in games. If he was a great clutch shooter, the stats should agree with that. If he was a great defender, the stats should agree. If he never let games get away, the stats should agree.

Why are you moving the goalposts? Insecurity? I was only pointing out that Jim's argument was terrible. Other players could have valid reasons for thinking one player is better than the other.
