PUFF DADDY WAS THE
BIGGEST COMMERCIAL RAPPER
IN 99, 2000, 2001?

Yep. Puffys status as a rapper was the biggest over every rapper from 97 - 01. In 02 and beyond he became inactive compared to those years prior. No rapper surpassed Puffys status in those years. No one.

No

1997. - biggie
1998.- dmx
1999- dmx
2000-Jay Z

Biggie was only around for 3 months in 97. Puffy reigned that year.

98 - 99 DMX was not bigger then Puffy just stop. Puffy has always been bigger then DMX.

2000 Puffy was bigger then Eminem, Jay Z, Nelly.....Puffy was bigger then every rapper that came out of the year 2000.

Puffys status never fell in 98 - 2000. He was always the bigger rapper.

You are talking about album sales while I'm talking about status as a rapper. 2 totally different things.

Eminem in 2000 sold more with MMLP then Michael Jackson did with Invincible in 2001 but in no way shape or form is Eminem bigger then MJ in 2000 or 2001. Same breakdown goes with Puffy being the biggest rapper in 99- 01

The real Mt Rushmore is the one they had on the Premier joint: Rakim, KRS, Nas. The fourth would be Kane or G Rap. Diddler and 50 Cent who could barely rap don't belong anywhere near an NYC rap Mt Rushmore.

Jones has made it his life's work to lower the bar in hip hop. He's been trying to do the same thing for damn near 20 years. And Im still not falling for it

Status is the criteria I was using that you quoted. Remember, you quoted me when I said my piece and kept it moving. Status puts Diddy in the conversation of who belongs on that MT Rushmore as a top NYC hip hop representative. Doesn't matter if he wasn't taken serious as a rapper when we both know he was more then that. Mogul, boss, actor, entrepreneur, record label owner, Revolt TV owner, all those extras just add to the status and even out his lack of being a traditional technical MC. Will Smith couldn't claim 97/98 with his status because Diddy's Bad Boy roster with Biggie, Mase, Total 112 and himself put him leagues above Will Smith. Puffy's status in Hip Hop is bigger then your favorite rapper and he's been a top dog in the game since 97. Dr Dre wasn't the best rapper either but that doesn't erase his status as the biggest Hip Hop producer/rapper next to Kanye.

Let me also add that I have actually seen Diddy live. Can you say the same? Diddy knows how to work a stage and give a performance. His stage presence is Top tier. That puts him in the category of a "Dope MC." Lets not forget that DJ Mathematics admitted that when Bad Boy and Wu Tang were doing a concert together, Diddy rocked the stage so hard that people started leaving after he left and Wu Tang came on.

NAH YOU WERE SPECIFICALLY
SPEAKING ON PUFF AS A RAPPER
NOT MOGUL NOR ANYTHING ELSE

"He was the biggest commercial rapper from 97 - 01."

Ain't no "Nah." I said "commercial rapper" in my first comment and you questioned 99-01 like you were confused as to why I said that, in which I broke down to you how his status as a "commercial rapper" includes everything he was involved with including his roster and other ventures outside of rap music. The full package. You questioned it and I elaborated. There's no "Nah" after that.

1) You already misquoted me and compared album sales when that wasn't my criteria, 2) then you said "status" shouldn't be used as my criteria as if you have a say so on how I define Diddy as a rapper 3) now you are going back in a circle about what I already defined was a "commercial rapper" for absolutely no reason. Once you did that I realized that you just want to argue for the sake of arguing while totally ignoring me making points on why Diddy is a candidate for MT Rushmore status and if I keep entertaining you, you will just keep going in circles, so this will be my last reply to you.

At the end of the day Jim Jones said what he said and I can understand his reason for picking Diddy on that Mt Rushmore and I already explained why. There's no more to it.
