No one sleeps on East Flatbush. It has been like that since the 70s. My mom great up in Flatbush. Always been wild.
Word. I'm from East Flatbush. Grew up on Bedford and Rogers. All we had growing up was west indians and them nikkas go straight to gunplay

Trust me, I have heard people say "this is nice" because they just looking at the houses.
I'm Muslim and we would all go to Jumu'ah at this Masjid in Ditmas Park in Flatbush, them houses nice as fukk over there. But once you turn back into Flatbush, it's back to real life. So I can see people not from there being fooled, if they're not from Brooklyn

But we always had a rep in Flatbush. All the other hoods knew about us.

No doubt, I'm from Flatbush. I aint going into too much, but I'm sure you knew about east 21st. From newkirk going all the way up to church ave area.

The people I heard say it were from Crown Heights, and Bed-stuy, but the one from Bed-stuy learned QUICKLY to be on lookout when he would come see me. We were young so I understood some not knowing. On a summer night, you can easily forget, especially in the early 90's.

fam this isnt true.

Its easier to make money now than it ever has been.

You dont need money or college to start a business or a side hustle anymore.
People just arent paying attention.

I had family that lived in the projects...they werent there because of society...they were there because of bad habits.
Same goes for everyone else I know that lived in the projects.

If you're broke in 2018...its because you just arent trying.
There are just too many ways to make money. You almost have to not be trying.

Its easier to make money quick, but not consistently.

Quietly peeping the jux/line up and being able to maneuver out of it?

Those moments made me feel like the illest nygga.

Call me childish, but I still remember a lot of those moments YEARS later.

Share these stories breh :wow:

nope.
again...the people that arent paying attention in not in the field have no idea whats going on out here.

People would rather be entertained than learn new skills, get outside of their comfort zone, and work.

There is money all around...you just gotta figure out how to get in front of it.

My people are so lost, and its us that's keeping us sleep!

No one said you can't make money now, I said owning shyt, and moving upwardly, most of us are living off of credit! Things cost more now, so even though you get money, most of it is going to bills, and food. If you want proper healthcare, there goes even more money. If you have student loans, there goes your money. If you have children, there goes your money. If you want to enjoy yourself, there goes even more money. No one is saying you can't live, but you shouldn't be working like a slave in the WORLDS RICHEST COUNTRY, JUST TO LIVE A MODEST LIFE!

You act like this is me just talking, its been going towards this trend for years, it didn't just start. Its even worse for blacks, even if you have college degree, and no baby boomer parents to help you. For whites, a lot of them gained their wealth from the government giving out loans for them to buy houses in the 1950's, and didn't allow blacks to get them or live where whites lived in the suburbs, so most whites have wealth from their parents, and grandparents, they use their houses to get more wealth. Most of us can't do that, especially after the housing crisis. This article shows how whites stay wealthy through inheritance, blacks don't have that gift because we came from slavery, and Jim Crow, racism is systemic not how someone feels about you.
https://money.usnews.com/investing/...nnials-be-ready-for-the-great-wealth-transfer
"Will Millennials Be Ready for the Great Wealth Transfer?
They're set to inherit record wealth, with opportunities and challenges for them and financial advisors.
"That's reinforced by AARP statistics, which show that people older than 50 hold 80 percent of America's household wealth."

Advisors are preparing young clients for the $30 trillion (with a T) transfer of wealth

I thought you study economics, and how money works. I don't have these issues, but I would be a fool to think everyone is like me. Here's some articles just in case you don't know:
Harder for Americans to Rise From Lower Rungs
Poor at 20, Poor for Life
Moving up the economic ladder is even harder than we thought
It's getting harder for kids to move up the economic ladder. He's got ideas how to fix that.
It's harder for everyone to go up in the world
fam...I know all about those studies.

The average person moves wrong.
its as simple as that.
People get stuck on that College --> Job --> Family track and dont even realize they got scammed a long time ago.

Its hard for me to have these conversations with people who arent going after the money because yall arent able to see what im seeing.

I try to talk to friends that are in dead end jobs, and they just dont want to hear it...stuck in their rut.

The money is out here...folks are making stupid money.
You just have to develop the skills to get it...
...it aint that hard.

You just gotta look for it.

Brooklyn son
I had family in the projects. Red Hook was crazy. My cousin had a friend who got killed over his air jordan 10s when they were trying to go to a party. My cousin lived on the 2nd floor. He heard his friend screaming his name to let him in, as he went to the buzzer he heard the shots. He went to the window, saw his friend laid out with no shoes.

Another time they climbed the little I guess.. facade in front of the door to the building to my cousins apartment. My uncle was sleeping and they went through the window and stole the tv and entertainment system while he was snoring

My grandmother lived in Lower East Side off the FDR. My other cousin had a fight with a cat over a basketball game. Weeks passed by, he was hooping and the kid came back and sliced his neck open. But he didn't hit the jugular and now my cousin got a scar on his neck. He cool now driving uber. Actually, he was driving someone to the ave D homes and they robbed him and dipped into the projects.

For about 4-5 years I dated a girl from Ebbets Field. I never got pressed because her grandparents were well known and her father was an OG. But they did give me the looks. Only time it was "scary" per say is on friday by the Empire Skate ring. The cops would shut the whole block down and the kids would go into Ebbets Field to terrorize and riot. Fridays I always left her spot before 6 if not I was spending the night...

Somehow I never had this happen and I was visiting family in Harlem and South Bronx projects all the time in the 80's. Luck was on my side:wow:

I ain't go in the building if people were posted up outside. I'd go grab something to eat and come back when they left:pachaha:

I grew up in the Harlem in the 80s. The worst project was Polo grounds on 155. I lived across the street in Rangel houses. Them polo dudes was always taxing nicca for whatever kicks hats jewelry and in 89 it was bubble coats cause the northface came out. My homie got juxed for the knock off a wind chill factor. I was :russ: when he showed up with just the The rugby on in the middle of Feb. In 90 I got a lil money and had a lite chain wit the bull head pendant. My homeboy Steve from Manhattanville pjs came to check me literally wit the dooky slick Rick level jewels. He wanted to holla at a cute shorty from my buildings. Long story short we got confronted by like 30 dudes from polo grounds with they hoodies tied up to they eyes on some ninja shyt. Even with the faces covered I recognized them cause we grew up together. Steve face was on some
 and jetted on some Olympics ish. They was like run ya chain. I popped it off and was like nahh. These fools tried to jump me for it but they was feeble as f@ck. I start scraping and caught on of them by the hoodie. The old heads seen me going for mines and backed most of them down on some let the fight the one on one. I bash this nicca had into every multi color cement toy they had in the play ground. They saw I was getting the better of they man's and tried jump me again. The old heads blocked me off and escort me home. I lost one of my Reebok in the scuffle. And held the chain so hard the pendant cut my hand bad. A month later I saw this bad ass stick up kid on the train and he told his man "That's the kid that gave me stitches." I been on some b.s. ever since. :manny:

I was just over there this past Halloween, outta everywhere I went in NYC that was the only spot that gave me pause lol. The cold part is it's wedged between a big ass hill and a thoroughfare on the other side with no sidestreets when you cross the overpass at the bottom, I was there in broad day light and nikkas was still mugging me on some :mjpls:"nikka why you over here" lol. 145th and up definitely had a different vibe from the other parts of Harlem I was in, was cool other than that Polo Grounds area though.

Put us up on game or create a thread... Most people in this country are basically broke but you seem to have the answers so go ahead. I'm not being flippant either...
