Physicality didnt really exists at the 3 point line so hes right. In that sense.
nikkas was routinely gettin they heads busted drivin tho. Especially in the playoffs.

The level of disrespect there was definitely different.
No they wasn’t. U can watch game 7s in the 80s. The only way u would know it’s a a game 7 is from the overlays. this intensity people say is not there like that.

dudes we’re not trying to hurt each other. Also the main important thing is fouls. If u get fouls, u off the court. So it’s a lot of “u got that“ no silly fouls

we need to do a coli watch party to dispel this shyt

Ok and the reality is Bird was a big/wing hybrid so he played closer to the rim in an era rim protection was extremely important and physical

Ok?

Nobody saying that Bird wasn’t one of the GOATs or that he wasn’t a great shooter. He just didn’t get guarded at the 3-Pt line the way Steph does, there’s nothing offensive or disrespectful about acknowledging that

I think they are talking about 2 different things imo.

JJ is right about what Steph has to deal with on the perimeter.

But I think Wilkins is more so talking about his era of physical play in the paint.

He's right.. I get it that some of y'all don't understand his point. But Bird is an all time great...... Who didn't have nearly the defenders on his ass like the all time great shooters do today

It's called progression and evolution.

And you clearly didn't understand Nique's point.

But you're a LeBron stan so you were born stupid.

Redikk is right about the 3 point shot because they didn’t shoot anywhere near as many as they do the today. The physicality was 16-18 ft and in. But overall the game was more physical back then, friends.

Yeah. I get he wants to generate clicks, but the offensive ideologies of this era vs Bird’s era or waayyy different. He damn near comparing apples to oranges…..

Bird rarely drove on bigs at all. The vast majority of his shots were jump shots or iso post-ups on his defender, for the most part he limited his drives to moments when the basket was undefended.

The myth of defense in the 1980s is based entirely on what the Pistons started doing at the end of the decade. Other than the Pistons, the average basketball play was significantly less physical, not more so.

It was before the Pistons…. The Celtics were the ones bussing heads first,m. That’s who the Pistons got their defensive philosophy from, due to them first 2 playoff loses they suffered from them.

Yessir. Dominique spit that shyt. It's p*ssy ball now. Which is the main reason why I stopped watching basketball. You breathe on a dude and it's a foul now.

Steph's fakkit ass wouldn't have been able to shoot like he is doing right now. All teams were way more physical back in the day. Steph would be shook playing against the bad boys of Detroit.

Case in point. Here's the Game 6 elimination game from the 1987 Finals. Lakers vs. Celtics, they're huge rivals, someone could go home, this should be peak intensity and physicality, right? No one should be able to get away with anything inside, right?

There's like 35 open untouched layups in that clip. :dahell:

The whole tough era of basketball shyt is a myth. They like to think current players would end up paralyzed if they played back then.

But Ja would be yamming on them nikkas just as easily as he does today.
Tee Morant would be on the court after the first hard foul :camby:. Ja wouldn't make it through an 82 game season. These young cats can't even do that now playing gym/ymca ball:mjlol:
