I want to believe it but it sounds like a huge bubble.
I just listened to a pod about AI data centers. The infrastructure is there and the are pouring billions into it but the GPUs will be trash with 18 months and that’s where much of the costs are. So you have all these server racks with GPUs that won’t be shyt within a cycle then you have to pay for more powerful GPUs like our computer gamer bros.

Is it worth it or can they bring the costs down?

They tried to build one in my town, everyone said fukk that!!!

The amount of Electricity that is needed for these Data Centers is fukking insane, they basically need their own power plant, and what isn't reported to the residents when they talk about building these centers is that the residents electrical rates will skyrocket from all the extras the power company has to do for them.

They are trying to get one approved in St. Louis, but that's getting heavy resistance once again. I believe the one they are wanting to build for OpenAI they said will use more electricity than the entire city of New York.

The data centers are blown. Any being built are basically Ponzi schemes.

There’s no actual money or efficiency in AI right now. Just idiots investing.

That’s basically what the guy was saying.

It’s literally propping up our economy or at least the “growth” in the stock market right now. Imagine 1/2 a trillion going up in smoke.

You would think smart people would realize their money is being burned. But I guess anything for innovation right. Might as well let the Chinese perfect it then steal their IP

Easy money to be made off these AI infrastructure stocks. I just bought AMD last week.
:ehh:

AMD stock skyrockets 35% as OpenAI looks to take stake in AI chipmaker

There is an awful lot of fear being pumped out regarding AI. Way too much of it from CEOs. What else are they supposed to say? There will be AI hype(we are in this phase right now). Then these CEO will realize this automated stuff needs to be maintained in some way. Especially in software dev. You can't just throw an app together in Claude and go take a 9 week vacation. And yet that's exactly the kind of fear mongering ruling the airwaves right now. Now is the time to get your skills up and be ready to be a part of the crew that will have to help maintain this stuff and trust me a large crew will be needed!

Right now AI is creating inefficiency so I think either work output will stagnate or they will have to hire more.

The promised land of AI replacement is not going to be from these LLMs.

The deception is that if you get to AGI your firm/company/etc will reap the benefits. But to me the only real corporate benefit is going to be the government contracts. Most of these companies are going to go up in smoke.

The founders execs and VCs will get paid long before the company fails

The only reason these farming drones aren't standardized is because farming is still aimed at the poor consumer, who is soon going to be cut out of the supply chain entirely. An automated future is radically different. There will not be direct to consumer products. Once again food is an inconsequential percentage of a rich person's income. These are people that don't give a flying fck how high the egg prices are. So the premium that comes from all of this machinery is meaningless to them.

So in a world where they silo themselves away from the poor people in the general society, They genuinely do not need us in their economy.
It was a lazy example because I am not in the mood to explain in detail. However, I believe it is shortsighted
