Majority of stars especially female artist had some weight behind em

Diana had Berry... Tracy's father was a big music exec

Whitney had her mother and Clive Davis one of the most powerful men in the industry

Same with Mariah who had her ex husband Tommy Mottola Sony Music exec...he was also pushing Jlo

Sure they all did some not so savory things to get their artist to the top and to protect their investments...it's a part of the business

Michael Jackson referred to Tommy Mottola as the devil for a reason but he did help Mariah sell hundreds of millions of records

It can be a cut throat business

Remember
SZA felt like she was pressured into giving Rihanna a track for Anti

BEBE Rexha revealed she had "no choice" but to give song The Monster to Rihanna and Eminem after penning the track.

The 27-year-old, widely tipped to be one of the biggest new stars of this year, wrote The Monster in 2010 - but was asked to hand it over to Eminem with Rihanna replacing her vocals.

She should let it go tell them to stop asking her and focus on her new projects.

The fact that we haven't seen her in 20 years is refreshing! She has that advantage over B who has been shovelled down or consumer throats for almost 30 years.

If I was her I'd make the most of this golden opportunity because she has actually been missed in the industry.

B don't have a Why don't we fall in love

😌

Man Amerie was so fukking bad.

Right! That’s all we’re saying.

As you said, it’s part of the business. I just don’t pretend that it isn’t.

Producers work with everyone. Imagine being a producer and turning down Beyonce
Yea, I don't get the problem here. Rich did go overboard giving everybody the exact same song over 3 years, which is why it got stale and he faded out. That was his job tho. No matter how versatile they might be, every producer usually still got their distinct "sound". That's like Cherrelle getting mad Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis worked with Janet Jackson or Pebbles getting mad LA Reid and Babyface started working with Whitney Houston. Maybe they did get mad but it would've been dumb back then too. Not their fault the people connected more with the superstars.

This is silly .

Sounds like a producer was…...producing for her and others

She got stale because outside her first album her music just wasn’t good not because of Beyonce or J-Lo

I just bought “All I have” for a second time like a month ago

Man, woman, and child
The coli been debating this forever :heh:

It’s pretty clear after the success of Crazy in Love the producer had found a sound that he tried to recreate for other artists. Crazy in Love format even sound that similar to 1 Thing outside the drums. The signature part of Crazy in Love was the horns. 1 Thing doesn’t have any horns. Bottom line Amerie didn’t have the same talent or star power as Beyonce

Here rich said no one had really heard the beat before Beyoncé.
Amerie is being disingenuous here because she gets an undeserved praise when it comes to Beyoncé. Rich Harrison produced and wrote her first album with no single contribution from her, so insinuating the gogo sound came from that session is a blatant lie.

Yep, Beyonce ruining the r&b genre on some nobody cant eat but me shyt. Its as clear as day.
That’s why I laugh when people try to shyt on Alicia Keys. The fact that she could do what she did in the Beyonce era is crazy to me. So many chicks came and went, but Alicia stayed dropping one every now and then to let us know she was still out here. Bey and Rihanna ran things obviously though.

It's a given.

Trying to understand how only 1 or 2 artist get demonized for something a lot of times is out of their control and all major state benefit from

And this Bey vs Amerie isn't even a great example especially considering Rich Harrisons account of events

I think the In Love and War album was pretty decent. She was trying to chase a sound again imo instead of just making good music.. She was dope over hiphop production though

This is one of my favorite songs from her. She definitely should’ve had a bigger career but oh well. I’m happy to see that she’s doing her own thing these days and pops out when she wants to.
