lmao.

after Padded Room?

I'd go with
Escape Route (REALLY poorly mixed though)
Mood Muzik 4 (4.5 for extra couple of songs)
All Love Lost (go with the deluxe version though, "Only Human" which was one of the best songs on Some Love Lost EP is on the deluxe verison)

you're right about Joe not rapping about these issues on this level before. a line or verse here & there but not full songs just focused on this.
I added a few songs to my 4.5 from around that time like Ayo, OLS 1&2 (as one song) along with OLS 3, it's actually a really fukking dope stand along project and nearly as good as 4 imo.

The fact this never made it to a project...

I wonder how big this thread would be without him recently talking about drake ON his podcast and inducing their beef. I'm not buying the notion of him having classic tapes. Because controversy is all that he's actually known for. No real musical moments of impact at all

Mood muzik 2 & 3 are classic tapes.
He's also known for being an incredible mc.

Then what's wrong, why is he a non factor in hiphop, why did he never have his moment or a decent run of success?

Define success..

Joe has carved out a niche for himself musically and has been doing this shyt since 03.. He's respected by his peers for his abilities.

For every Jay, Kendrick, and Nas there's 10 more dope nikkas that didn't quite pop off( Joe, Saigon, Jay Elect)

Doesn't make them any less dope, their careers just didn't take off.

If you were around during that time period, you'd remember how big Mood Muzik 2 was. It was right there with PE #1, Dipset Vol 4, Dedication 2 etc

Success doesn't equal skill or respect. He didn't have the mainstream appeal but his other qualities are appreciated.
excuses excuses,if you make multiple attempts at Mainstream, then you're a commercial artist. And will be judged as such. He's a failure for making weak joints

Basically what @904 said in his first reply

He's a millionaire signed to himself, making the music he wants to make while being nicer than 90% of the game (even his haters will admit that) Far from a failure imo
He was recently signed to eminem, wtf and had a hit on the majors in the early 2000's
So he's a mainstream artist.
His only notable music moment was on the majors
