:what: This is the exact bias he's talking about, there was a lot less music back then, it was filtered by industry and cultural gatekeepers. The 'golden age' of hip hop was manufactured around a dozen or so albums from artists who would go on to have poor discographies, save for the best of the best. Don't compare your best shyt to our worst. The modern ziesgiest is so decentralized that it's almost impossible to build that same legacy regardless of the quality of the music, but it also means the average album is much more creative and niche. The modern indie era absolutely shyts on the underground culture before the internet, so I'll call it even.

I've said it before on here, this type of emotional reaction is the exact same misunderstanding you would see between the fans of classic rock and punk/hardcore. 20+ years later unbiased people can see the value in both genres, I listen to youngboy and masta ace, they're both good, neither is 'better'.

It's like saying "my Porsche is faster than your tractor", it's fukking idiotic they're built for different functions. I don't want to speed on the freeway to fukking masta ace:russ:

Sohh.

You can listen to:

Mc negro and the Ignant mc and find no irony or issue.

Aight,....

You're comparing NBA Youngboy, who's had a full ass funded campaign propping his views up on YouTube & streaming numbers to The Stooges, an act that was organic & were just ahead of their time? :heh:

The Stooges were Jazz-obsessed master musicians, who were deconstructing Pharoah Sanders

Iggy Pop's one of the smartest dudes in rock n roll

They were just CHOOSING to strip all the pretentions away from rock n roll in attempt to get back to the essence of rock n roll.

The Ramones were obsessed with Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and early rock n roll & were reacting to Rock becoming so pretentious and bloated during the '70s with decadent bands like Pink Floyd & Led Zeppelin

NBA is a just fukking idiot, who looks retarded, sounds retarded, and acts retarded.

He's a crash test dummy with 11 kids by 9 different women at 24 & threatened to kill Joe Budden because he said his music was wack.

He's a fukkin' moron & so are his fans

He's not trying to take Hip-Hop back to it's essence or put a progressive spin on the culture

The nikka prolly can't even spell "essence"

nikka LITERALLY breathes with his mouth open :heh:

And I think it's a little disingenuous to compare "Rolling Stone" critics when they were considered somewhat credible in the '70s to "Rolling Stone" critics today who have ZERO credibility and are sucking off Cardi B. so they don't get called "rockist" "racist" or "sexist".

They weren't always right, but they did have the respect of the public on some level, which is why being on the cover of "Rolling Stone" was seen as one of the biggest accomplishments in music for years.

It's like comparing "The Source" back when it was the "Hip-Hop Bible" & most rappers/fans considered it credible on some level to "The Source" today, which is totally irrelevant.

Stop regurgitating shyt because you heard Joe say it. That nikka has a legit fanbase. His music has been ass but to act like he doesn’t have the 10-30 demo on lock is wild and shows you nikkas are out of touch.

Brehs in here writing furious dissertations on the history of rock music because a 1 hit wonder rapper turned Podcaster called an awful youtube rapper trash :pachaha: :dead:

None of this is necessary, the answer is easy. The failing education systems and the technology advances that have zapped the ability out of kids to have more than a 30 second attention span have led to each generation getting stupider decade by decade over the last 50+ years - despite the ease at which information is now at your fingertips. Stupid people make and like stupid things, whether that be art, music, movies, video games, etc. The movie Idiocracy is going to be looked at as a biopic in 50 yrs (if not sooner) when President Mountain Dew Comacho is serving his first term :merchant:

Two things can be true. YB diss have the 10-22 year old demo on lock (ain’t nobody 30 bumping this dude other than perpetrating liars pretending that they like his music so they won’t look “flabby”), but there very well was a forced social media promotion with him. I witnessed it in real time, and that shyt was annoying. And how I know it was a forced thing was that it’s not even a thing anymore, as if it doesn’t even exist.

can my old heads come answer a question for me?

when you were coming up listening to mobb deep nas snoop rakim pac. or when you heard songs on the radio coming up in the 80s or 90s did you think you could do that shyt too.

cause in 06 i started middle school with all the ringtone rap and i remeber all us kids being like man we can do that shyt too. all you gotta do is say something stupid with a dance and a catchy beat and we can be rappers too.

i feel like that sentiment has carried into what we see today. so many kids get into music and they came up hearing fukk rap this just a check or whatever. and it reflects in the music. they dont even care what they put out.

i mean even prodigy in 96 said fukk rap im tryin to make cream and thats that.

Do you follow NBA/NFL? Most athletes listen to him. They even play him in the arenas/stadiums during warmups because that’s what they request. People over 30 listen to him bro lol. I’m not even trying to cape.

1000% thought I could be a rapper in the 90's when I was growing up, but you needed to actually go to (and pay for or have a connection with) a studio back then to make songs. You could get a boombox with a mic and record some things but then you had to find tapes that had instrumentals.

Honestly things got out of hand once Fruityloops dropped and everybody easily could make beats and record songs on a PC :manny:
