Just finished reading Katherine Jacksons(Mama Jackson) book/biography. In it were excerpts from the kids as well on certain subjects.

Since I've become a father, I can't help but praise Joe for his work to do what's best for his family. The media has always painted this man as abusive. It's exaggerated.

Katie said in her book that Joe hit her one time early in their marriage and she promptly caught that nikka with a vase to the body that cut him so severely on his arm he had to wear a cast
Never had that issue again.

Real talk though, reading how Joe was behind closed doors showed how emotionally invested he was. Crying at night when his oldest daughter got married and moved out, buying Tito his first guitar after tito broke Joe's guitar after being told not to touch it. Investing money in music equipment when they couldnt afford it because he believed in his boys

nikka worked overtime, swings shifts, never at home. Got laid off so much Kate had to pick up a job. Kate said his paychecks were around 56 bucks. Their mortgage was 60 bucks. Shyt was rough. 11 people in a two bedroom house. Joe told her he was gon get her and their kids outta Indiana and that man more than exceeded those promises.

He was tough but in the book, only the younger kids (Mike and Marlon) said he was overly abusive. The eldest siblings said the exact opposite. Jackie, Jermaine, Tito all said Joe was a great father and disciplined them accordingly because they lived in an unforgiving world. Joe wanted to keep his kids on the straight and narrow and it worked

It worked so much so that by the time they hit it big with Motown, people were impressed with the professionalism, maturity and skill of the boys. Joe raised them that way. He taught his boys early on how to handle the world. MJ and Toya turned out weird but 7 outta 9 turned out pretty decent.

Sidenote, MJ been lying to us acting like he was the angel of the family and always caught beatings for no reason. Kate snitched and said MJ was probably the most mischievous of all her kids and he used to catch whoopings from both parents so much that that lil nikka would take off running when he knew Joe was coming with that belt. She said she used to have to get the older brothers to catch MJ and hold him down so she could put the paws on him.
