I think this is the poorly thought out part of Trump's strategy. He set the bar so low for Biden that all he has to do is string together coherent sentences. A lot of people who haven't seen him speak think he is this inept bumbling idiot.

The one area I am curious/nervous about is how Biden reacts with a passive moderator. His subpar performance in the primary was attributable to him sitting back and waiting for the moderator to play ref and, when that didn't happen, Biden became flustered and frustrated. It is a one-on-one convo so it will be more structured, but on the flipside, Trump will break norms and do things purposefully to irritate Biden.

I would suggest Biden treat Trump like Jonathan Swan did in the Axios interview, and treat every word he says like it's bullshyt. He doesn't need to really fight or even insult too much. He just needs to dismiss Trump.

An early line like, "You never tell the truth, so you aren't worth debating, I am here to speak to America, the country you continue to betray, not you" would set the tone correctly for the rest of the night.

Not sure why but feels like there's no hype for these debates. I forgot it was even tonight. I think personally I'm so disillusioned knowing Trump can get totally slaughtered verbally by Biden and still won't lose any votes. I miss when gaffes could derail campaigns with the quickness.
