John Witherspoon was too integral to The Boondocks. It wouldn't even feel the same without him.

It'd be like rebooting Fresh Prince without Uncle Phil or Martin without Tommy.

man, we lost charlie murphy and john witherspoon. not sure if they can even do it now.

plus regina king got an oscar, so who knows if she's even willing to go back and do this show anymore when she can get higher paydays.

This is a terrible situation all around. On one hand, I always wanted new Boondocks just so it could erase what happened with season four. But on the other hand, you can't just replace someone like John Witherspoon. A lot of Granddad's character felt like Witherspoon in animated form.

Add to the fact that HBO Max comes out this month, the announcement was made almost a year ago and we've heard absolutely nothing since then means that something happened to the reboot. Either it's being held up for a while or they're not going through with it anymore.

This show is cursed, honestly.
