Aight OP, I tried to avoid this thread because I get tired of talking about the military but here it is...Long story short, I just graduated high school this past year, I had a division two basketball scholarship, but i felt it wasn't worth playing nor doing.
I had good grades all through high school, but its August and the college I am interested in going to is way too expensive for my taste.
Everyone in my family is against it, but I feel it would be my best option.They are telling me "everyone else is taking out student loans, its not the worst thing in the world!" but I am strongly against student loans, and I feel there are a million ways to become successful in life, and taking out 40 thousand dollars in loans isn't one of them.
How do coli brehs feel about joining the military fresh out of high school? Do you think it would be a dumb idea?

Go. @Dray5K asked me the same shyt about a year ago now he’s in the Navy doing fine.
If you had an athletic scholarship but didn’t take it thats fine. All that tells me is that you won’t have any troubles with anything physical.
Go Airforce. Idgaf what people THINK they’re only hiring in. Take ASVAB and they will let you know what you qualify for, then pick the job you actually care to learn skills in and that would be most useful outside of the military. You don’t HAVE to do that job when you get out but it would make more sense to keep a paycheck coming in.
Don’t go Navy unless you know how to swim and an officer. Navy is a “fukk you over” kinda branch. It’s based off of Royal Navy bullshyt thats full of segregation and mistreatment of those that are beneath you.. its also a crab in the barrel branch imo.
Airfoce isn’t. Airforce is the branch closest to actual real world work. They don’t treat people special by rank and shyt as much BUT you have to be smart to get in. You could go enlisted or officer in AF, doesn’t matter (officer always better though)
Go Army/Marines if you just don’t give a fukk, stupid, or want to be in a branch for validation or some dumb shyt like that. Only thing is, you might be miserable, you will be doing dumb shyt, and have a higher chance of getting shot at. Again, it’s always different if you go officer..
This is all just my opinion. I was Navy for 8 years but worked at 2 joint commands and have had Army, Navy, Marine (who was cool), and AirForce CO’s (commanding officers).
Some clowns that never did shyt in life are telling you that they will “own you forever”... thats the dumbest shyt Ive ever heard. You will do a contract for 4 years most likely, and there are always different ways to get out. I suggest just doing your 4 years and bouncing with some cash, skills, fat resume, and free college.
Also, reserve or national guard is always an option no matter branch you choose. You can also do that shyt as an officer
Go out and do some exciting shyt in your life instead of taking out a 40k loan to get a degree in physical education with 0 experience.
And don’t listen to nikkas that never done shyt.
