How is that possible? So even if you don't work and are a full time student you can get both FASFA and GI bill?
Yes, my school(s) basically make you apply for financial aid. My advisor literally said it is free money if approved. It's just the pell grant, not an a loan or whatever.

How is a 18 yr old supposed to know the pros and cons of each branch? That's what the black dude was hinting at in the vid above. The Army/Marines basically trick young naive dudes with promises of chargers and bonuses not telling them the negatives of signing that contract :francis:
Also I assume if there is a "good branch" to be in then there is probably a lot of competition to get into said branches, which means the most desperate people are going be funneled to the worst branches as they might not have the education or guidance to get into the good ones , again the black dude hinted at that in the above video with his depiction of the air force basically requiring you to be of college level intelligence to get in
I don't know about the Navy, but the Air Force is a little more strict on who they let in. So people can want to join the AF but they can't. Army usually provides more waivers for your criminal record, ASVAB, tatoos etc.....

Free 5,000 per year :ohhh:. You could save up and buy a brand new car within 3 years :mjlol:. On top of that you get BAH while in school :picard:. I can't wait :wow:. Just 6 more months :mjcry:.

That's what this thread is about. People in the military giving advice about what jobs to pick and what branches to join. Yes you're right recruiters definitely prey on a lot of young men. However, in the age of the internet you have to be really dumb to get tricked. All it took me was 30 minutes of Reddit to find out what rates I should avoid. I would have joined the Air Force but they didn't have open IT rates so I went Navy instead. The internet is there for a reason. As for the Air Force it's true. Some of the most level headed people I've met were in the Air Force. They also smoke and drink less. Binge drinking is extremely common in Navy,Marines, and Army. You'll walk around the ship and find Dip cups/bottles :francis: it's disgraceful.

Yea, that's exactly what it is bruh. I just recently started taking classes again, but they are online only so i won't get the monthly stipend. Even though i know i probably wont get approved i applied for FA anyway :mjcry:. Your gnna be straight .

I got a question though. I get out 20 days after the semester starts, how can I set it up to where when I get out I start school directly instead of having to wait for the next semester. Also, why not just take a real class instead so you can get paid (I'm guessing that you have a family to take care of?).

There's a reason for that. Too many people not reenlisting. Don't join the Army :pachaha:

The Truth
It depends on the branch and your job. Take this from someone who is in right now. If you're joining the marines or Army then yes you are definetly being taken advantage of. If you join the Navy as a non IT or intel rate, you are being taken advantage of. Air force and Navy IT rates live the good life stop trying to spin this thread into a shyt on the military thread :mjlol:. if you're dumb enough to join the Marines or Army then that's on you :hubie:. There's a reason why most Army and Marine recruits are farm boys/girls straight out of high school :francis:.
There is no good life bruh, our bullshyt just isn't your bullshyt:mjlol:

Thats on others for not picking a technical/intel job, doing well on asvab, etc.

IT isn't a cake job and if people think it is the it isn't the ONLY cake job you could've picked. When I was in SD for school, it was basically if you fail one cert you getting kicked TF out the class and they're switching orders... no second chances and 90% of the class failed. If you not about that life then shyt is not easy.

I bring up LS because it's the first job that comes to mind as one of the cakest and easiest rates in the military. There are plenty of "cake" jobs in the Navy that it's other peoples fault for not choosing them. shyt always annoyed me when nikkas complain about the job that THEY picked then compare my shyt to their's... like I haven't been doing IT since before the military.

Here is how it is:
If you have average intelligence and aren't afraid of using computers pick:

CTN, IT, or CTR. Do not pick CTT because you might end up on a destroyer (small boy life sucks). You might also end up on a destroyer if you pick IT but ITs on destroyers don't really do much (all they do is chill in their Radio shop).

If you aren't that smart pick: YN, LS, PS or OS. YN and PS are admin rates all they do is push papers. OS's rank fast since their advancement is 100% all the way to second class. That means that you can end up making around 1500 bi weekly (3000 a month) within two years. The downside to OS is that you stand a lot of watches.

If you absolutely do not want to end up on a ship your only chance is CTN. Some people get lucky and get stationed at squadrons.... I would not risk it though. Pick CTN whatever you do.

Don't go nuke. Long ass hours and you are being massively underpaid for something that you could be doing in the civilian world for 100k+. Nukes have the longest hours I have ever seen tbh. They rarely leave the reactor plant :mjlol:.
Bruh I know how it is... I was IT for 8 years and worked in the same building as all of those CT rates.

CTN is not for ANYONE with average intelligence. You better be smart as fukk with great comprehension skills...

Everything else I am aware of. I was on the Lake Eerie.... didn't mind it at all.

And stop acting like CTN is cake bro, that shyt is much harder than regular IT. It's actually the rate I should've picked. If your ASVAB isn't around the mid-80's then don't bother..

Nuke life suck but most nukes do that shyt for the check once they get out.

I didn't know OS still existed and there are other CT rates to choose from. CTO, CTI, CTM, etc. All require pretty high intelligence.

And then there are IS's... shyt most fleet nikkas never even seen. Literally do nothing every single day but kiss officers asses and create their powerpoint briefings to the CO or admiral.

I literally created an Admirals command center from scratch damn near by myself, complete with multiple workstations with CPU's with variousl classifications, voip phones, video phones, 120ft wall of TV's, etc.

that shyt took me damn near 2 months... thats not cake

That is probably a question for the Veterans Administrator at the school your interested in. Usually they have deadlines that you have to be registered and payment set up, so contact the school you want to go to and see if they can work with you . I take online classes for convenience, I can work on my classes at work. I have been bullshytting with school for the past 3 years. I have been taking classes here and there but in reality i only have like a year left in school. Haven't felt the need to go all out since I'm :eat: pretty well for where im at in life right now, but i told myself that i wanted my bachelors before 30 so i decided quit bullshytting. I do miss all the extra money but that shyt was overwhelming taking 3-4 classes, working full time and having a family. I'm good with just getting the credits right now.

I wanted to start a career in IT, that's one of the reasons I enlisted in the Air Force, but my bad credit prevented it as one of my job choices. Everything happens for a reason :mjcry:

Yes breh, I had several dii offers, but they were all extremely small schools with less than 2000 people in the middle of no where:yeshrug:

I felt the work I was going to have to put in was not worth it.

And also, I feel as a black man there are more things I can do than dribble a ball.
If they had a single decent program in a field of interest for you, then you should have done it. Chances are you will be putting in a lot MORE work in a location that is also in the middle of nowhere. Good luck with that

IT and CTN are pretty easy :francis:. If you're a civilian who studied for Network+ or CompTiA+ then you will do fine in A school. CTN is actually easier than IT. They spoon feed you the information at JCAC. My best friend is a CTN and the dude is dumber than rocks (no offense to him, love him though). CTI doesn't require intelligence. All they do is sit at a console and tell us if there's a ship near us or not. If we ever have a missile fired at us their only job is to push a button for missile defense :mjlol:.
