'instead of' ? Can't you do both?
You can but it really depends on your squadron and what shift your on and what you can handle my squad we where overstaff so I had time to knock out my pre requisite classes even qualified for tuition assistants'instead of' ? Can't you do both?
Long story short, I just graduated high school this past year, I had a division two basketball scholarship, but i felt it wasn't worth playing nor doing.
I had good grades all through high school, but its August and the college I am interested in going to is way too expensive for my taste.
Everyone in my family is against it, but I feel it would be my best option. They are telling me "everyone else is taking out student loans, its not the worst thing in the world!" but I am strongly against student loans, and I feel there are a million ways to become successful in life, and taking out 40 thousand dollars in loans isn't one of them.
How do coli brehs feel about joining the military fresh out of high school? Do you think it would be a dumb idea?
Thanks for the thoughts in advance,

Wait hold on...
You turned down division 2 basketball...which would've paid for your college...(if that's not the situation then my bad...)
and looking into joining the military...where you have to spend 3, 4 or 6 years of your life with no fukking freedom...and depending on the job...working 12 hours a fukking day...getting treated like shyt half the time since you'll be a lowly E1...
Where as you could've been in college, hooping and fukking bytches...
Couldn't be my son...

Oh ok so boot camp doesn’t exist you just walk in and they’re giving out jobs now and you make your own schedule thanks for the update
My dumber cousins who weren’t smart enough for college are/where in different branches of the military. I guess they’ve been lying to me about boot camp, and you all went to some nice fancy country club where you answered to no one and made your own hours. And people are openly choosing to go to shyt holes like Korea and Guam
Korea nor Guam is a shythole, Dunno who told you that but you heard wrong
Apparently the new military, you don’t have to go to boot camp
I describe it as “cake”....Can anyone tell me or describe what navy squadron life is like? Going for AZ.
Thread is old but I’m speaking from experience, I did college and the military. Now I’m getting out and going back to the private sector. In the real world the only nikkas getting real money were military nikkas.
Buy and hold stocks? Trading stock options? Real estate? Professional mentors/self development coaches? All options afforded to military nikkas.
Having a stable job gives you a level head out here to think clearly. Friends from college can’t plan 6-12 months out, or invest, bc the economy Is so fcked up. In a way it’s sad, bc friends from college are JUST now (or haven’t even) started in the stock market. Meanwhile my bro who’s 25 in the Air Force is sitting on 25k in his brokerage account. Ain’t no way in hell a Breh from undergrad is sitting on that. But let some folks tell it those who served did it bc they had no other options or weren’t cut out for corporate. We got insurance too.
At the end of the day you gotta think for yourself. A life lesson I wish I would have known 10 years ago is 85-90% of the people you interact with don’t know what they hell they’re talking about. That includes family, friends, colleagues, etc. Take all the information out here and formulate your own opinion
