Narrative plays a role, and if Ant knocks Jokic out this year even without winning a ring, the narrative will benefit him next year to the point that if MIN is top 3 and he's averaging some 28/6/5 type shyt, he'd beat a SGA with a #1 record and something like 31/4/6 and he'd win it over Jokic if Jokic had his same numbers as last year.

Plus, the league is dying for an American face of the league and Ant is easily the most exciting out of his peers. Really. Only Ant and Zion has that potential out of the Americans. Z might have missed his spot already, so Ant is all we got really lol.

not saying youre saying this but it almost seems like youre saying since its close, give it to sga. to be clear sga has a good case as does jokic, it should have been a close decision but thats how these votes have ultimately gone the past few years even when it seems like it should be a tossup.

this legacy, protecting past legacies, adding qualifiers and narrative talk is silly. you give it to who you feel had the best season period even if you think someone else got screwed in a vote 20-30 years ago and now jokic or whomever in the future will have more mvp's than someone who you think is a better player.

the end of the season really hurt shai's case. okc was sitting at 49-20, then he gets banged up and is less effective having his worst stretch of the season as well as missing 6 games. having said that jokic probably still wins easily anyway due to his numbers, impact, and a section of voters who didnt vote for him last year and feeling they made a mistake.

Well deserved for Jokic who was the best player in the league this season. And he played on a top contender.

They were 2-5 without SGA... One of em wins a 3pt win against Charlotte lol. That team got nice talent but he the engine that make things go on both ends. He not a better defender than Chet but his offense allows everythin to settle and he still a great defender.

SGA got a better record, his numbers better or at least as good when you factor defense and he 3-1 on Denver for season. And he play both ends and not targeted on defense and the gameplan for a team to attack consistently like Jokac is.
