People grew up emulating AI because they could though. If you're using that as impact, then sure. Iverson was 6'0 160 pounds...He didnt invent the crossover....I dont see cornrows as a cultural impact. No one even wears cornrows anymore. It all went away with And 1.

There's no way anyone could even replicate Lebron if they tried. The dude is a once in a lifetime type of size/speed/talent.

Lebron is big man. The guy is on a first name basis with the world.

You dont have to invent something to make it hot. AI wasnt the first, but he dam sure was one of the best at it. Classic moment when he crossed up MJ. I mean the greatest perimeter defender basketball has ever seen. And AI made cornrows hot aroudn the country. Not even gonna debate that with you. Fact is, if you dont think AI in his prime had a bigger impact on the game as far as style, and people emulating him than Bron Bron does, you are either blind or lived under a rock. Point blank. Matter fact, AI id even go to say was a bigger global name/star than Lebron was in his prime, and you'd have no way of proving me wrong.

you are nuts.

Iverson was a Reebok guy. Lebron is Nike.

Lebron is the Apple of the basketball world....Iverson was never on that level.

Lebron had the entire country watching him pick a team on television.

So what? All that shows is that he was the biggest FA at the time and choose to be an attention whore.

And T.O.'s situps in the driveway >> The decision in attention whoredom

Culturally, to the streets at least, I'll have to say AI's impact was out of control in the early 2000's.

I took my daughters to the Puerto Rican day parade the year the Sixers went to the ship...and I swear on EVERYTHING, half of the young Ricans at the parade was rocking some pantyhose on their arm mimicing that arm band AI was he firs to really rock. shyt was out of control, had me standing there on some "yo...this niqqa AI is loved!!!"

I think you're arguing something different.

No, he didn't invent the crossover, but kids were trying to emulate his crossover. Got to the point the league had to start calling palming.

Cornrows, nobody in the mainstream public wore cornrows until him. Only people you saw wearing cornrows before then were maybe girls or hood dudes.

Then you got the things like arm sleeves he wore for his burisitis in his elbow, now just about every other player wears one.

You don't think he had an impact on someone like Melo? Look at him, he was like a super-sized version of AI when he first came in the league:

Bruh, I'm dead serious.

This nikka Mike said "Republicans buy shoes too."

What cultural impact did he have?

how about every single player changing the way they played the game from flat foots like magic and bird to above the rim like mj

how about everybody wearing longer shorts because of mj

mj literally made gatorade, nike, wheaties household names

half the league went bald after mike did

how can you not bring up the shoes when even today it is still one of the highest selling nike brands. imagine how them joints sold in the 80's and 90's

look at the revenue of the league prior to mj til his retirement in 98

i can keep going, you really cant be serious here.

Im not denying he had an impact and was very popular in the early 2000's especially around their finals run....

But as a brand and a name....Lebron vs Iverson isnt even close. If Iverson was that type of brand he wouldnt be broke now.

That whole convergence of the big 3 in one free agency was unprecedented....of course it got attention, with him being the biggest of the 3. Still doesn't speak to his impact.

Right.

Him being that hurts his long term impact. As dumb as the whole Decision thing was...Lebron's brand will never be touched. it will only get better...especially if he wins a title.
