yea but the thing is, Freeman is just another one of those mediocre qb's who are (was) starting. making a lateral move to get Freeman is pointless right now. Teams would be better off riding out what they have and drafting a new young guy.
Dude is good enough to stay in the league though. I liken him to a Matt Moore type guy. Someone that can still play. Has good tools. knows how to play. Just not a great qb.
I don't think it's a lateral movement. Dude is still young and has had just 3 full seasons. 2 of them he threw for 25TDs+. One of them 4000 yards. He has all the tools. If the Chiefs will give up 2 2nd's for Alex Smith, why wouldn't the Vikings give up less than that for a QB with more upside?
Something is wrong in Tampa. Freeman was playing good ball. Took a dip in his 3rd year (new OC?)...then got better when Schiano got there and dipped again end of last year and this year. Something is wrong over there and I'm not going to put it all on Freeman.
My take is....the talent is there. We have seen what he can do at his best. Pair him with the right system and the right weapons and he's pro bowl caliber. To me, that's better than a Henne, Smith, Ponder, Bradford, Hoyer, etc...
