And that is why having max contracts is stupid. If you didn't have max contracts the nikka wouldn't have a benchmark to shoot for. The nikka wouldn't have the audacity to say "I deserve Lebron money". And even if he did it would be met with the :childplease: but since we have this silly bracket system rather than a system where each guy gets paid what he's worth as an individual he's probably right. :manny:

“I feel like I’m a max player,” Smith said Friday.

He is a max player... ... in Atlanta. You see what they gave Joe Johnson. I wouldn't be surprised if they maxed him too. The problem with Josh is his inconsistency. He might drop 27pt, 8reb, 6ast and 2 blks one game on some Lebron shyt, then next game he has 3pts 5rebs 1ast the next. All he really is, is a PF version of Gerald Wallace when you really think about it, with a worse jump shot.

This nikka is in the prime of his career and he only averages 16/8/4/2, yet he wants a max contract? :what:

Man what happened to the real perennial all-stars/max players? The nikkas who actually put up numbers to get paid?

Has the talent level in the NBA sunk that low for this nikka to think that he's up there? Who is gasing him?

If there wasn't a benchmark, he wouldn't be asking for LeBron money. He'd be asking for the type of money that a max contract would give you anyway.

Three words:

supply and demand.

Here's the key question that always proves these athletes right:

If my team (or some other team in a less desirable market) were to give him a max deal, would you blame them?
