People don't realize that charisma and star doesn't necessarily need to come from mic skills. Some guys suck but their body language and presence still makes them a star. Bret was never good until 97' but he was always believable. Even 'Taker was pretty mediocre for most of his career. Goldberg for fukks sakes!

Shelton could've easily fit the role of the "I do my talking in the ring" champion since he was one of the best pure wrestlers they've had in a while and he carried himself well.

This whole "they need mic skills" shyt is a myth

I havnt been a regular viewer of the WWE since they chose to make R-Truth a sidekick for the miz. and gave miz wack ass a title run, along with sheamus and a host of other bums.

everytime I tune in, it amazes me how new day is still super over, and not one of them has stepped up to get a title run, while the other two hold down the tag team stuff.

the WWE is so blatant with what they do. if youre black, and youre one of those people that hold allegiance to the WWE, while not really rockin with other companies, then ur a certified cooon in my book.

also, I don't really feel sorry for these black wrestlers that sign up for this chit either, when theres other options. kofi Kingston should've been left after the randy orton debacle. 8 years later, hes still there and still stuck in the midcard. and they got him shuckin-n-jiving.

Is this just revisionist history or are y’all really pretending people would’ve taken Shelton serious as champion in the mid 2000s? If he debuted in 2014 then I’m sure he’d be on the same level as guys like Seth and Finn but he was far too bland to put a title on him back then. Wasn’t a monster like Brock, didn’t have the “look” like Orton, or natural charisma like Jeff/RVD...he pretty much reached his ceiling given the times

chris benoit was champion when Shelton broke thru as a singles wrestler.

and Shelton was still there when the dolphs & swaggers started getting titles.

Why’d he get a title run while Shelton got fired?

i'd take those names over a good amount of the people they have put the strap on over the course of the last 15 years.

they even gave bradshaw a 9-month run!!!!!

if the entertainment booked him like impact booked lashley the past few years and gave him a decent mouthpiece he would have been a good main eventer. also if his moveset played towards his strengths as a legitimate amateur grappler instead of "i'm athletic so I'm going to jump a lot and do 450s even though I'm 240 pounds". they can't give any black wrestlers any sort of logic or nuance or depth or whatever smfh. like why not give the decorated amateur wrestler with legitimate ncaa awards a submission as a finish or have him do crazy-ass rollups? anyways if they booked him as a "prizefighter" and had his "agent" do most of the talking while he does cesaro shyt to his opponents it probably would have made some kind of money.

also mvp not getting a world title is more egregious than l-ton not getting one.

Like they couldn't get him a manager. :mjpls:
This is standard white people sandbagging a black dude, then saying it was his fault. Lesner out here with Heyman doing all the talking, but Sheldon gotta be on his own. :francis: Yeah i made the comparison. Since JR talkin bout promos. Dude acting like there isn't a simple way around promos. :stopitslime:

Such b.s.

Whether you wanted a Shelton run or not, you can't use "mic skills" as a reason not to put the title on someone when they got folks like The Great Khalil and Jack Swagger getting runs.

ETA: I love Jeff Hardy but let's call a thing a thing: He's got charisma out the yang but his mic skills are basic AT BEST and a total train wreck at worst. Dude used to flub his lines on the regular.
I was just about to edit my post to say Jeff Hardy. Dude was literally a look and some falling off high places spots.
