@Hathaway is it possible to become a pastor without getting a college education? I had made a thread awhile back on considering being a pastor since I work part time and only make 10 dollars an hour at a restaurant.

I remember. I replied in that thread. Yes. You do not need a degree to be a pastor. Just about all of the early black Pentecostal churches were built and led by honest, uneducated working men who only had a love for God and a love for the people.

Above the fray.
Honestly, it's way too much to write out. It stems from doctrinal scriptural interpretation and the historicity of the actual Bible.
Ok thanks, I won't pry any further.

I've heard of clergy and church members questioning and changing denominations. But not dropping the entire faith system.

Whatever brings you peace is the right decision for you.

Pac laid it out here and it was so refreshing to hear someone think the same way as I did back then. You bring this topic up with most people and just point out the logic and watch how emotionally they react because the truth is so obvious. Why on earth (or heaven for that matter) would you need an intermediary to access your divinity? Never made sense to me.

Add to that one who charges for access? GTFO. I know a protection racket when I see one and religion is the ultimate hustle that claims billions as it offers ignorance dressed as wisdom for a percentage of your income.

Who says you NEED an intermediary? My observation is that a lot of people don’t really have issues with church/religion/God. They have issues with people… sociopaths and crooks who use religion for their personal gain. Often times it doesn’t really have anything to do with what’s actually in the religious texts.

majority of churches have under 100 members and the pastor is not getting paid. If black folks were actually following the bible giving the bed undefiled, loving your neighbor, not breaking the commandments not living a life of gluttony we'd be so far ahead so miss me with that.

The average U.S. church and the average U.S. churchgoer are headed in opposite directions. Congregations are increasingly small, while remaining churchgoers are increasingly headed toward larger churches.

The 2020 Faith Communities Today (FACT) study of more than 15,000 U.S. religious congregations revealed that 7 in 10 U.S. churches have 100 or fewer weekly worship service attendees, while 7 in 10 U.S. churchgoers attend a church with more than 250 each week.

While the average U.S. congregations gathers in a building that seats around 200, only 65 attend the median church each week. This means that half of all churches have fewer than 65 people in their weekly worship service.

White supremacy taught black churches to only focus on Jesus and the new testament. You won't read about Jesus slapping the shyt out of anyone, he was humble and forgave, they spin it as we're supposed to do the same, foh. This is why we're so weak.

You shouldn't make any money from YAH's word and tithes are BS that we need to get away from as it does not apply to us anymore as there was a reason it was done back in those days. Also stop calling him God, that ain't his name

God is just a title.

so how come you never hear his name and only a title? Also the bible TESTIFIES that we will forget his name for God
I feel you and I do not have an answer for that. I just know black churches do not teach Elohim or Yaweh for some reasons. When I was a minister, I made an effort to utilize songs that incorporated those names in my ministry. It never caught on with traditional church members though.
