You can speak with proper grammer and punctuation and still be from the hood.

Yeah I read it and I see what he's saying but this topic has always been dumb to me. There a few c00ns who sound like frat boysDid you read the OP?
I feel the same way. It's the black news caster effect. People think speaking with a white diction is proper. Syntax, grammar and pronunciation determines what is proper by a language. Not how you use your voice to tone words.
Yep they love to sport a bald head also ...OP is right. Can usually spot them before they even open their mouths too. Unkempt haircut, uncomfortable to look your way even though you're as black as them, etc.![]()
forgot about the thin framed glasses too ... that's key ...
This is talking white![]()
It's kind of ironic how we as a people don't want to have labels and snap conclusions made about who we are or how smart we are because we talk in "ebonics..." but give labels and make snap conclusions about other black people because they talk "white." It's hypocrisy, something we do...a lot. 9/10 if a black person is both talking and sounding "white" they probably grew up around white people and that's likely out of their control. You'd be the same nikkas calling them "fake" if they tried to talk "black."
I went to college and ran into lots of brehs and brehettes who were raised in cac burbs and yeah, they sounded "white." But that doesn't make them any less black than I do. And every single one of them was down for the cause and tryna broaden their horizons by befriending your more stereotypical African American, get in touch with their "identity" I guess. That's all you can ask for.
We gotta stop associating "blackness" with how shytty your life is. Acting "hard," talking in slang, bragging about whose hood was tougher, etc, should not be badges of honor. They're just a part of who you are and don't make you any more or less "black." And yet I regularly see this behavior on this site. That's why we're always in last place...in before the c00n comments.![]()
I'm not talking about talking proper. I'm talking about talking "white." I didn't miss the point. You can have terrible grammar when you articulate yourself and still "sound" white. There is a distinction and you can often spot it fairly easily. And I don't get why that's an issue. Who fukking cares? All our community is ever looking to do is divide, divide, divide and that's why we can't get our shyt together.
