How did he even fall off when it comes to music? Somebody should do a series or something asking artists how they fell off. And I don't mean that to be clowning them, but something like that 30 for 30 with athletes talking about how they blew millions of dollars. Maybe yall know, but it seems like some artists like Jaheim just disappear one day.

His last major push was over a decade ago right when the shift from R&B to Trap/ThugNB occurred, he couldn't find a new lane.

As for artists, it is simple, they only get a portion of royalties for their big songs...for example, let's say "Put That Woman First" sold 200k records...
Assume each sale gets a dollar after promotion, production costs, etc...
His dollar:
- 50 cents goes to the label and publisher
- 20 cents goes to co-writers
- 30 cents goes to him for performance royalties
That is 60k before taxes, insurance, agent fees, if THAT...so he took out an advance, that needs to be paid in full before any actual income goes his way....

Also royalties are paid quarterly, so it isn't like a 9-5 and boom. Meghan Trainor had to wait a year to get her first paycheck from 'All About That Bass"....

So a chart topper residual from nearly two decades ago won't be enough to probably pay a light bill in 2019...

I honestly think he don't have no hustle about himself. He has a built in fanbase of women already so he could release music independently and sell records.

If he was a scumbag he'd go the R Kelly route.. . But I'm guessing he's not a scumbag.. .

Jahiem has classics:ufdup:
On the cross town with the top down
Sounds banging out the backseats (alright)
Me and shorty two deep
She's flashing me thighs
Wind blowing through her hair
Baby we can take it there (take it there)
But first I gotta make my rounds
Baby slow down
My crib's on the other side of town
But from the look in her eyes
She was hypnotized
Rubbed her hands on my chest
And started getting undressed
Tell me why
Listening to this song back in the day in 01 when I finally got my license. I was a young man driving through downtown Dallas in the summer, the traffic sucked but songs like this made it a smooth ride.:mjcry:

If the entertainment industry is like what the internet says then he's better off without that stress.

Dude had actual vocal talent. Listen to the song referenced in the thread title "Just In Case".

I F'd with his music on the strength of "Put That Woman First" being played on the radio with curse words .

R&B has dried up for Black singers....even those with great voices. Jaheim never had that ONE hit song, that would allow him to eat / tour forever and he doesn't have a classic catalogue.......so the industry has no love for him.

I think the root of the Jaheim hatred on the entertainment sites is based on a comment her made a long time ago in print magazine about "preferring Puerto Rican women". At the time I didn't see the point of a BLACK R&B singer alienating his fanbase like that, but he said it proudly.

Just In Case is def that ONE hit....shyt is a ballroom staple....

It's crazy cause he has a unique voice. I definitely thought he'd be in the game longer. He could try latching on to a tour or something like that. He definitely had some hits not too long ago.

True. He strikes me as one of those hood brehs who got finessed off of not reading the fine print.
