Men are sentimental that way.

Men want love.
Women love the idea of being in love.

In my experience, the guys have been the one who "fall in love" first.
But it's not real love. They meet a nice girl then start acting like all their dreams have been answered and that she's gonna make their lives better.

Like they fall in love with the idea of this manic pixie dream girl and how she's gonna make them happy. That's not love. That's infatuation.

They fall in love with the idea of love. Not the person, then they act surprised when the chick isn't happy or turns out to be crazy because they never really gotten to really know her. They were just satisfied with the superficial.

But then again this is mostly based on younger dudes. I think some dudes grow out of this mindset as they get older.

These both sound like over-generalizations to me

Not just that but that saying I love you makes everything ok, or that just love itself alone is supposed to make something long term work.
