Obvious weak points in defense screws up our entire defensive scheme which is why Spo is so big on playing defensively intelligent players over sheer athletic ability and intensive, which holds doubly true for our bigs because they're required to be extremely mobile and active to get the most out of it.
And there were times Beasley looked ok on defense, at first glance, but then you start slowing down tape and seeing that Beasley was leaving gaps in the defense that didn't always manifest until too late.
There are definitely some times where STAT could be useful but he's injury prone, average at defense, and he's not quite good enough offensively to make teams pay like a David Lee or Kevin Love might be.
