I'm not hating on them. It's not like they don't deserve it.

BUT

If they can get what they are getting, then I don't want to hear shyt about why we can't get reparations.
Thank you. This is not the first nor last -- they have been getting plenty. As they should.

But, let us make one claim for reparations -- everyone - including other Black people -- have an issue. They say they don't -- but clearly they do.

Man stfu, they chose to live on reservations they got aid from government for decades, land, money and grants and basically sovereignTy. They can't make it work so they are stuck on America's teet.

Yet you give black people who had it just as bad zilch ....fukk outta here

If they can't work it out make them assimilate like blacks had to and bring them into the field of society instead of this Fake sovereign shyt that's obviously ain't working .

However this isn't about saying native americans don't deserve anything , it's about saying why do all these groups have all these specific programs and blacks have none. Instead of justifying it fall in line and question it
They “chose” to live on reservations in the same way AAs “chose” to live in segregated communities terrorized by white supremacy :mjlol:
Natives living in non-reservation areas aren’t seeing a cent of this.
Come visit Baltimore. Or Detroit. Or Flint, where black people are still drinking poisonous water. Also read up on the history of Native American's interactions with blacks in the U.S. :mjpls:
Baltimore, Detroit, and Flint aren’t all-Black nations.
They’re US cities. Therein lies the difference.

From my understanding --many who choose to live off reservations still get checks from Casinos. I know back home in Michigan -- we have Native Casinos and they are all tax-exempt. Many -- not all -- but many also get profits from the Casinos.

Tribes are Tax Exempt. Gaming on Native American lands earned $26.5 billion in 2011. 236 Native American tribes operate 422 facilities across 28 states. Yet Native American tribes and their wholly owned tribal corporations are not subject to federal income taxes on their earnings.

2017 Indian Gaming Revenues Increase 3.9% to $32.4 Billion | National Indian Gaming Commission

You're being obtuse, the point of this thread is that an ethnic group can be the specific target of legislation. Doesn't matter if their a nation since the U.S. has given reparations to groups who aren't. For instance, Japenese-American citizens got 20,000 each as reparations for being internment camps.

This is what ADOS communities need -- it can go off of median HHI and other stats.

i agree and this is where the focus needs to be. there are a lot of voices talking about reparations, but i don't hear or see any of them doing grass roots work, lobbying, or organizing. i can guarantee the reparations movement will be taken more seriously when people actually start putting in work. i can support that.

You need to visit Black communities in the Black Belt and other areas of this country ... seriously.
The difference is nearly all reservations look like post-WW2 Berlin, almost no Black areas do.
The absolute vast majority of Black areas no longer look like the 70s Bronx, not an even comparison.
My grandparents live in the Black Belt, and yes that area should be getting federal infrastructure funding.
what they eat don't make us shyt.

unless people start organizing and lobbying for reparations all we'll see is disappointment at what other groups are getting.

good for them though. they have an organized strategy for securing grants to improve law enforcement and services for victims of crime. perhaps there's a model there that can be followed?
They have nations. We do not. We have the Congressional Black Caucus and c00ns like Elijah "my White friend isn't racist" Cummings.

:comeon:The thread is about reparations. You acting like all natives can’t move out of reservations. THEY CHOOSE TO BE ON RESERVATIONS
Same for AAs in the hood right? We "choose" to be here. Why not just move to those lovely affluent White suburbs instead of staying with our families and communities, right?
There’s like 50 million ADOS in America. What are y’all doing wrong?
Don't exist as a nation. They can run their reservations semi-autonomously, under the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
We don't get the same luxury.
Even with that autonomous power, they still look like third-world nations pre-90s.

Totally agree. You have to know there are some of us offline organizing and working on these issues. But, it's not enough. It's picking up though - and will continue too.

The main issue is not letting others discourage you -- or make you feel like it won't or never can happen -- or we don't deserve it. It's a lot of people online like this -- on this forum as well.

Same for AAs in the hood right? We "choose" to be here. Why not just move to those lovely affluent White suburbs instead of staying with our families and communities, right?

I can't say I agree. But, we can agree to disagree. Thanks

You just like your boy @Deangelo B. trying to compare our struggles. There are Natives who CHOOSE to live in the hood. But can AA choose to live on reservations?

I think OP is just going for highlighting that some groups get special assignments of money while blacks have to rely on a rising tide lifts all boats disguise to get help which is true.

Been putting off saying this though on these discussions. Not saying it to discourage "tangibles for blacks " discussion and don't think this mean that the thinking isnt correct but this further highlights the difference between racism towards blacks and other groups that people refuse to acknowledge or gets ignored by racists who say "XYZ group faced discrimination too" .

Folks ignore that anti black racism in this country is stronger than any other racism in this country. To the point that there is almost an animalistic instinctual reaction among a good chunk of the non black population towards any legislation that appears to help black specifically that if it was anyone else wouldn't exist. This is a challenge for reparations and why some people aren't entirely wrong when they say black American reparations is difficult to achieve POLITICALLY. They don't say it out loud but they know it's because it's not just a logical rejection of reparations but because there is a huge population if not the majority of whites in this country whose head will explode at the idea of "their money" going to some "filthy fukking ******s!". The level of hate of blacks in this country is astronomical which makes this a political minefield for politicians that they wish to avoid. It sucks but it's the reality. If black folks want to disengage from the political process because of shyt like this I don't blame them.

Those who live off the reservations and still get checks aren't getting paid directly from the federal government, but from the casino owners and family members.

I'm not, this thread is premised on stupidity. I'm well-past aware that any group can be the specific target of legislation.

Japanese-Americans (none of the non-citizens who'd been interned were included) who had been interned got paid. At the behest of the Japanese-American Citizens League and numerous allied politicians. It was direct payments to those affected.

Native reparations go to independent reservations (which are nations, acting in place of the US states that surround them).

Jews got reparations from France that the US dispersed to Holocaust victims and their direct descendants.

We have neither a federal agency, a nation-state to pressure the US, nor a nation we ourselves exist in.
Comparisons are foolish; we craft our reasoning and our methods for lobbying independently of other groups.

I'm not comparing shyt, and I'm specifically arguing against comparing shyt.

And no, which is why comparing Native reparations to our struggle for reparations is so foolhardy, its a completely different fight.

I know. As they should.

How is it premised on stupidity? Especially, when a article was posted -- not saying anything else.

You made an assumption -- and your assumption was wrong. Therein lies stupidity.
