He didn't "work closely" with Reagan. Scalia never held a position in Ronald Reagan's executive branch. Nor was he a legislator who supported Reagan's policy proposals. He was a judge that Reagan appointed. That's it.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "spirit" of Reagan.
Working closely as in Reagan nominated a person that would support his agenda, as they all do.

How is it racist??? Students who don't have the qualifications to get into a certain school are more likely to struggle than those that do. That applies to students of every color but in this case he was referring to black students because they were discussing race based affirmative action.

Scalia wasn't referring to all black students.......he was referring to black students who get into a certain college solely through affirmative action.
Don't insult my intelligence.

Go blow your dog whistle elsewhere.

You don't win in life without taking chances. Hillary isn't a shoe-in and can absolutely lose the general election too. :what:

Basing your political moves out of fear of your political adversaries is some buster ass shyt.

So in other words you have no argument.

Thanks for admitting you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
I don't need to engage anyone who defends an a$$hole who used coded language to launch a racist assault on the autonomy of black students.

Get the ENTIRE fukk out of here.

Ya'll act like Hillary is a bad candidate or something.

She's been in the game longer and wins, clearly.

Yall hate that she's rich.

Yall hate that she's connected

Ya'll hate that she doesn't fukk around with other countries.

Ya'll gotta come harder on this woe-is-me, shyt.

I rock with Bernie, but I don't see him leading this country. I don't want someone who is weak and who retreats on the world stage.

This is not the time for being nice out here. Its comeback season for the USA.

Certain people get in due to letter of recommendations and because they can pay 50k per year or because they have expensive SAT tutors.
Alternative entrences are already promoted, either we have grades and nothing else or we explore options. According to science, race and intelligence are completely uncorrelated, therefore it's pretty understandable if a person from a bad school system, poor home but nearly gets into Harvard is given a chance to develop at Harvard. They are not trying to find shytty students, they are trying to find unpolished diamonds that would've been brilliant applicants if they were born in the right place.

Studying say economics at Harvard is not much harder than doing it at Ohio State, same book, nearly identical exams. So that "qualification" thing is irrelevant, they are not accepting people with 2.0 gpa's.

So much hatred and ignorance in this thread. Definitely a great representation of Obama's political base.

The problem is that black college students have very low rates of graduation. Scalia's point was that if black students were admitted to colleges that were more in line with their academic qualifications then their graduation rates would be much higher. That is not racism it is common sense.

There are many studies and books that make the exact same case. Google the "Mismatch Theory".

Does Affirmative Action Create Mismatches Between Students and Universities?

He was of the belief that any state-created racial distinctions, even if they were created to make up for past injustices, perpetuated race hatred. One could argue that he arrived at that conclusion by making some wrong-headed assumptions. Namely, that affirmative action students do very poorly in college.

But his opinion on college admissions processes doesn't really define how his jurisprudence affected black people. Nor should it.
