perhaps wishful thinking but if they block this Obama and the Dem nom will hold them to the flames.
i think barack will pick a moderate or another originalist to take his place
constitutional law is barack's wheelhouse...so even though originalism has flaws, it was a fairly courageous intellectual stand to try and continuously make even in the face of knowing he had a losing argument. thats how it goes in court sometimes. thats why a bunch of his shyt sounded crazy..because he tried to avoid contradicting any his overall interpretation at all. i expect barack to nominate a justice and get that justice approved (1. good pick 2. congress shook of bernie or cruz)

This is an opportunity for Obama to truly move this country to the left. This can be transformational in so many ways. Obeezy wont fukk this up. He's either going to appoint someone or guarantee victory for Hills

This has the opposite effect on me. I was staying out of the primary fukkery on the Dems side and was ready to vote on the nominee based on knowing the supreme court appointments would be happening soon. I was focused on who was most likely to win a general, which was Hillary, because the alternative was Cruz or Trump stacking the court with a bunch of Scalias.
Now that there's the possibility that Obama will get one in there or the right will blow themselves up trying to fight his nominee, I'm much more open to looking at Bernie as a viable candidate in the primaries and entertaining his possibilities in the general. There are still 2 more appointments that are going to have to happen, but the dynamic shift on the court from a Scalia to anyone else changes the game for me. I'll still vote the nominee, but I'm going to donate my $27 to Bernie right now.

Wow the Election just went 0-100 real quick. Listen I get it, he's a Conservative Legal Legend. I do not wish death on anyone but as a Black Man, Scalia votes and legal record I wasn't a fan of. This including attacking the voting rights act as well as talking about Black people's college intelligence. His death is now a conservative nightmare as it completely kills the Obama "Lame Duck" talk. Sorry getting another Supreme Court Nod puts a stamp on his Presidency. Republicans can fight this if they want but it will only boost Obama and Hillary if she ends up the nominee. This is really Big and just could tip the entire scales of the Presidenial Race. Outside of the Presidency we all know the Supreme Court has a huge ammount of power on how Laws are intepeted and shaped in this country. Obama now has a chance to tip the scales big time. I'm sorry for his family and the people that love him. But again his legal votes are something I will not condone so it is what it is.
