I was supposed to see him perform at the Red River Ex next month but apparently it got cancelled. I was really looking forward to it too.

@JulesWinfield That sucks. I'm not one for festivals. I'd much rather it be a dedicated show, especially for one of my all time favorite artists. I really hope that he puts a tour together for CFWG and hits the US. I know that he toured for BOB. Did you catch that one?

Nah. The last time I remember him coming to Winnipeg was either 2012 or 2013. I missed that show cause it was the same week as a Redman show. I had to make a decision and went with Redman.

Dine Alone x Red Bull Hamilton Tour Bus details announced
June 3, 2015
We’re amping things up this summer with the Red Bull Tour Bus — hitting highways across Canada to celebrate our 10th Anniversary! The ’67 GM transit bus that transforms into a ground shaking sound stage will host some of our best musical acts for select FREE performances from coast to coast. The five-stop tour kicked off in Vancouver, BC on May 16 then to Calgary, AB on May 23 and Saskatoon, SK on May 30. The bus is now making its way to Hamilton, ON, for the June 13 show featuring performances by multiple JUNO award winner and Grammy nominee k-os, electro r&b crooner Brendan Philip, Hamilton’s own The Dinner Belles, and more secret guests to be announced. The show kicks off at 12:00PM local time at the intersection of Hess St. and King St. See below for streams and more info on each artist.

The month-long series showcases some of our most notable current artists including Tokyo Police Club, Yukon Blonde, James Vincent McMorrow and Monster Truck, all on the back of the legendary Red Bull Tour Bus as it transforms into a fully operational soundstage for the series of outdoor shows. More event details will be announced as available.

http://indie.streamon.fm/k-os-flavoured-beer-pl-2807

Talks about his beer collaboration (Golden Vox with Beau's All Natural) which won a contest. Only available in Canada from what I've seen. Says that the LP comes out in August but won't release the specific date. Here is the beer's page ( http://beaus.ca/beer/golden-vox/ ) and videos promoting it ( https://vimeo.com/beaus/videos/page:1/sort:date ).

He has a new single out called "Steel Sharpens Steel" which I have posted teasers of in this thread. I found some press releases and found out something that he didn't want us to know. According to this link: http://rpmpromotion.ca/new-single-from-k-os-steel-sharpens-steel-is-out-now/ , the album comes out on the 28th of August. Don't know how accurate that is but it coincides with the first link so late August early September should bring us Can't Fly Without Gravity.

The link I posted above now has the Soundcloud for Steel Sharpens Steel. I can't embed the link as it's locked/ private. Song sounds dope as hell. Different from the Rock influenced songs of previous LPs and the Rock stuff from Black On Blonde. The breakdown is sublime. Hope this drops in August like the press release says.

With singles “WiLD4TheNight and “Turn Me Loose already doing their thing, we are happy to announce the release of k-os’ new album, Can’t Fly Without Gravity, on August 28th. “WiLD4TheNight (EgoLand)” explored k-os’ indigenous roots while the next single, “Turn Me Loose,” showed his shiny dance anthem side, and his recently released single, “Steel Sharpens Steel,” showcases his punk side. The sixth studio album will be available for pre-order via iTunes worldwide tomorrow. Fans that pre-order the album will have instant access the aforementioned tracks, as well as new single, “Crucify” (listen below via SoundCloud). Fans of physical artwork and music will also have access to physical album and merchandise bundles, available exclusively through k-os’ online store tomorrow. k-os and his band head out this summer to give you a taste of the live show – look for him at festivals across the country (tour dates below)!

Can’t Fly Without Gravity captures all of the different sides that make up k-os’ musical DNA. It’s an affirmation that “the forces which pull you down are simply put there to inspire you to rise above them” and promises to be a more stripped-down, holistic effort than its highly conceptual predecessor, 2012’s double-LP opus Black on Blonde. However, the rock-vs. rap dialectic at that album’s core still guides k-os on a more philosophical level: it’s not just a question of reconciling disparate musical styles, but of differing workflow strategies. To be k-os in 2015 is to find the happy medium between hip-hop’s penchant for rapid-fire releases and perpetual stylistic mutation with the more measured approach and timeless aspirations of rock ‘n’ roll artists—all while engineering his music for a post-EDM pop landscape that has not only changed listeners’ tastes, but their very physiology. Recent single, Turn Me Loose is a testament to this, blurring the lines of genre specific stylizations, instead exuding an unabashed confidence that has become such a staple aspect of his sound. Couple this with the new-age banger, Steel Sharpens Steel and the physiological shift in his musical progression is clear for all to see.

k-os’ insightful approach to music making has proven he is an artist with boundless limits, and certainly not one that appeases to fluctuating mainstream trends, in which his 2005 Grammy Nomination can attest. Over the span of his career, k-os has gone twice platinum, toured with a wide array of artists, recorded with The Chemical Brothers and won multiple JUNO awards. But that is nothing to how he has evolved with each new release.

Can’t Fly Without Gravity Track List

  1. Snapback
  2. WiLD4TheNight (EgoLand)
  3. Dance In Yo Car
  4. Hussle & Flow
  5. Get Up
  6. Crucify
  7. Vous Deux (Denzel Washington)
  8. Boyz II Men feat. Saukrates, Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, King Reign, and Shad
  9. Rap Zealot
  10. Spaceship
  11. Turn Me Loose
  12. Steel Sharpens Steel
  13. Another Shot (A.S)
*Looking at the track list, I have heard 7 1/2 songs. One of these songs is old as hell but maybe he changed it somehow. If not, that's the second time he's put an old ass song on his new album. The cover is type wack. I'm not feeling it but new music is the focus.

Upcoming tour dates:

July 14 – Toronto, ON – PanAm Games Ontario Celebration Zone (Harbourfront Centre)
August 8 – Squamish, BC – Squamish Valley Music Festival 2015
September 5 – Edmonton, AB – Sonic Boom Festival
September 6 – Calgary, AB – X Fest
*more tour dates to be announced soon
