look at kaeps draft, when you draft a qb your hc/gm are attached to the hips to them. the ones who drafted gabbert, ponder and locker have been fired for the most part. lewis might be next if dalton cant win a playoff game

finding a qb is not that easy, thats the most difficult position to evaluate.
youre looking at it from the wrong side
there was no point in drafting gabbert, ponder and locker mostly because all those qbs were drafted too high and teams had mad needs besides qb. qb should be like the LAST position to get for your team, not the FIRST one.

watch the same thing happen to bortles. he isnt a good enough qb at all to perform with crappy talent around him

kaep was drafted in 2nd round, and sat behind alex. young qbs have to be babied a bit to perform well, cant just throw a guy to the wolves. word to david carr

But I'm talking in this situation. Who would you get to replace Ryan? A rookie through the draft? If ARod asked for 30M, I'd sign him. Arguably best QB in the game.
remind me the situation. I would try to trade him for two first rounders knowing his demands, this would give me tons of ammo. then yeah draft a guy, get a placeholder.

look at az man, carson is mediocre qb at best, and they just draft defense. now lets say in a year they replace carson and rams replace bradford with a young able qb...both of those teams will be dangerous as fukk

az gets a guy who can perform decent enough and they are a contender already with that D imo.

i agree the jags screwed up with bortles, he would of been there late in the first.

but i disagree about drafting a qb too high, a qb can make the biggest difference offensively if you draft correctly

If you pick the wrong QB as "your guy" chances are you won't get to pick the next one.

Rex ryan is a rare case of a coach who got a second chance after picking the wrong QB but he went to 2 AFC title games. Most aren't that lucky

Reaching on a QB through the draft couldn't be any more different than resigning a proven QB.

However the penalty for drafting a bust at the position is far less than it once was.
