WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT DEBUT?

WALE HAD THE #1 ALBUM
IN THE COUNTRY 10 YEARS AGO

And Kai was 13 ten years ago and more probably deep into gaming and other shyt.

He doesn't strike me as a hiphop head that was breaking down lyrics at 13
:mjlol:

I just started getting in to lyrics at that age really, so again, this is not surprising to me.

You want to say he is a culture vulture that makes no sense logically.

Kai was born in America to Caribbean Parents

As an adult. He labels BA as culture less. Which means in his household he may value the Trinidad/Haitian heritage as more unique-meaningful than that of BA

When Kai presents to the world. He sounds and acts like an everyday BA. But by his own admission. He doesn't really value the people that curated his sound. Because he can easily speak with a Trini/Haitian dialect. Since he holds that culture in higher regard than BA culture

Its plausible that he is a culture vulture because he doesn't speak with high regard for the people that he actually sounds like

If this wasn't addressed Ambition is not his debut.

He doesn't have to be a huge rap star. He was active and present in mainstream hip-hop from late 00 through the 10s. If we're playing the moderate mainstream success game this is like someone my age not knowing who Cassidy or Lupe is...someone 10 years older than me not knowing who Common is.

Everyone knows who was around during their early adolescence multi-platinum or not.

I'm pretty sure there's people around Kai age who doesn't know who Wale is

you are repeating what you are angry about.
Try to make a argument that is logical though instead of just throwing out world salad.
He is a 1gen immigrant from the carribean insulting black americans. Period.
Its okay to leave it at that, but sorry the culture vulture shyt doesn't fly.

Im not angry about anything.

All I tried to do was answer the question that you asked

You lack nuance in what a culture vulture can be defined as. And that's ok

This thread high key showing how out of touch the Coli is. It’s perfectly reasonable as to why Kai wouldn’t know wale. It’s not the late 90s 2000s anymore
fukk no

This kid just grew up around white people that’s why he said black people don’t have culture

Kids got older family members who woulda been listening to them, how was I in elementary school and knew who Lupe, Wale and Cudi were?

Y’all in here talking like Wale is Ca$hout or Desiigner

South Burbs

I remember the rappers that were big, I was more into R&B before that tho. But this was the mid to late 90s. I was 13 in 97-98...

I knew Bone Thugs, Crucial Conflict, Pac, Biggie, Snoop etc... The Fugees, Puffy's No Way Out album, Busta Rhymes, DMX, Jay-Z later on, Nas when I Am dropped in 99. Then Eminem, Nelly dropped in 99 and 2000

I was just starting to really get into lyricism and I def had to go back and catch older stuff from artists that I just wasn't listening to younger. My parents weren't letting me listen to anything with a parental advisory sticker on it anyway

:yeshrug:

Looking at this list, who would you say is comparable to Wale in terms of popularity given their eras? He was bigger than Crucial Conflict but you know we all knew their music in Chicago/Midwest along with Do or Die
