It's probably customary for people to stand for the VP so probably a valid gripe. There have been a couple reports of Kamala not being around and her not having a good relationship with Bidens staff so it might be more to this.

From what i been taking a look at, they might fall under the OMB (office of management and business) at the WH.
Okay so i been trying to googles shyt. Idk if anybody found anything different but there isnt anything i saw in writing that covers non DOD civilians. Customs and courtesies for the VP. From what im gathering is though, the only people explicitly stood up for at entrance for is foreign HOS and the POTUS (due to his status as HOS, head of state). Its not manatory to stand for the others but still considered good taste.
