You also have to understand he's older and he has matured, not only as an artist, but as a person. My vocabulary is different from 12-15 yrs ago. Certain artists maintained a street credit, but that doesn't apply to them now. Like, Drake can't rap about shyt that Snoop can. Their experiences are different and he wouldn't be true to his art if he did...he didn't live that life. Just like Jay-Z doesn't rap about the same subjects he did when he first came out cause at this point in his life, that's no longer his reality.

It's not about his vocab. Listen to his vocal and tonal inflection, it's totally different. In the first video, I thought he was trying to imitate a British accent. In any case he's speaking some real shyt so Im not even gonna go on him about all that

that Kanye life and rhymes seriously looks like one of the best hip-hop shows ever. The live band and singers plus it was a small crowd, intimate setting.

I think Jay-z did a life and rhymes too for American Gangster that was really fukking dope as well.

Yeah, Life & Rhymes was like Unplugged but strictly for Hip Hop... another good show Mtv need to bring back...

@Desirous Does he really keep it real? Acting out even though you have good intentions is not exactly what I call "keeping it real". That phrase is over used and has lost meaning.

I did find it interesting that he is fighting so diligently to break into fashion when they look at him as an outsider however as a rapper, he and other rappers cannot say anything to people of other professions jumping into music. How many actors, athletes and other non musically inclined people drop a "rap" with little to no resistance or kerfuffle from those who have devoted their whole life to the profession of music? How many times had hip hop music and culture been used to market/ sell something or as a dalliance before switching it up? Including but limited to Marky Mark, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Kid Rock.

I think when he acts out, he's just acting stupid. We make mistakes. Personally, I don't think he does it to sell albums, but maybe I'm wrong. I always sensed something genuine about him.

He's just speaking about his struggle. I'm not sure that he entirely supports people piggybacking on "rap culture" because it happens to be a lucrative market for artists.

It's difficult for him to break into fashion because he's not creating a label that caters to the hip hop audience, per say. Not to say that everyone who listens or appreciates hip hop dresses the same, because they don't...but look at Jay-Z or Puffy....they did well when they marketed items that were in line with what people identified to be "hip hop fashion." Diddy tried to break out into more high fashion and to my knowledge, didn't do so successfully.

I don't think he's more mature today than he was back then... I think money has changed him..

Money doesn't change people..it makes you more of what you already were.....

That being said, this was years ago. Why are people so resistant to change/growth ?
