The same dude head of LVMH Bernard Anault who Kanye was criticising made this dude designer Oswald Boateng head of Givenchy design house in 2004..... Boateng also has his own label and has practically suited almost everyone from Beckham to Tony Blair

OBoateng_GQ_12Mar12_pr_b.jpg

p009mmsz_640_360.jpg

This is Bruce Oldfied ......the most exclusive black designer you never heard of, he designs strictly couture and designed for Princess Diana the Queen of England, Liz Taylor and a whole heap of royalty and rich and famous....

Bruce Oldfield was an orphan brought up in an orphanage.... Oswald Boateng never studied fashion he bought some machines and built up his multi million fashion empire from scratch....

These two guys started off without a penny and rose to the top and Im sure that every obstacle Kanye faced they faced and they damn sure didnt have $13 million dollars.... the point is they persevered and rose to the top......

This is my point about having a plan B,C,D if your plan A dosent work, which is the difference between these guys and Kanye West

is the fashion industry racist? yes so is politics, IT, music, Film, Banking, education, medicine, sports ...... but we everyday folk still get on with it and try and beat the system

dude was happy to sell his sneakers for $1000 through Louis Vuitton but now they wont throw him a bone Im supposed to Boycott them, Fukkoutahere .... is he gonna boycott Barclays that didnt give me a business loan I once asked for....

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Thats soooo subjective. Speak for yourself man
This site is a pretty good cross section of the hip hop world. Take a poll.

Kanyes earlier work didnt get cross the bored love?
Never said this

you really acting like Prince got love for all his work?
Or this

Nobody that presses them self constantly is going to make a hit every time.
MJ had a solid 10 year run. You know why? Because he WAS the creative force Kanye CLAIMS to be.

Rap is supposed to be a braggadocious art. Fine. But this nikka has crossed the line into fukking delusional.

Just because he can produce and rap, doesn't mean he can DESIGN. Some people were born with a talent, some just want to tag along because they became famous. You can learn about almost everything to a degree, but some people have that touch of genius that separates them. Kanye obviously feels like he has "it", but apparently others disagree.

It's the same with rappers watchin' Scarface and thinkin' they would make great actors. And then we get Master P, Fat Joe or Dr. Dre tryin' to be in movies...:merchant:

.“André doesn’t have fashion. André himself is fashion,”[1] the shoe maestro Manolo Blahnik said in 2010 of the high-flying contributing editor to Vogue. And Talley is, by any account, one of the most authoritative voices in the industry, offering his encyclopedic knowledge of design as a critic, columnist, television personality, and all-around inspiration.

Talley once wrote that he was a “true fashion convert by the age of twelve.”[2] He has attributed his rise to a devout passion for the subject, fostered by a series of female mentors: first and foremost, his grandmother, Bennie Frances Davis, who raised him in Durham, North Carolina. She took pride in her appearance—with a Sunday wardrobe that was modest, but impeccable and very stylish—that left an indelible mark on young André. After attending college in his hometown, he pursued a master’s degree in French literature at Brown University; he considered becoming a professor before moving to New York City in 1974....more

André Leon Talley born in Washington, D.C., the son of Alma Ruth Davis and William Carroll Talley (by day a press operator at the U.S. Patent Office and by night a taxi driver). André’s parents will eventually divorce and he will be raised by his maternal grandmother, Bennie Frances Davis, in Durham, North Carolina; she works as a dormitory-room cleaner at Duke University.

Baptised. Family life is grounded in the church. “My childhood was, by anyone’s standards, a rich one,”[7] he later writes. Because of his height—which eventually will reach six feet seven inches—his father entertains hopes he will become a basketball player.

After graduating from Hillside High School, studies French at North Carolina Central University.

Leaves Durham to pursue a master’s degree in French literature at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. While there, he participates in an exchange program at Rhode Island School of Design; at RISD, he will take an art history course, develop friendships with fashion enthusiasts, and write a gossip-and-fashion column for the school newspaper.

Earns his master’s. Later writes, “My topic was the pivotal role played by all the fabulous, exotic North African women in the works of poet Charles Baudelaire and painter Eugène Delacroix.”[8] After weekend visits to friend Reed Evins in New York, realizes that a career in academia is not for him. Encouraged by Reed and the artist Richard Merkin, decides to pursue fashion.

Moves to Manhattan. With a letter of recommendation from the father of a friend from RISD, obtains a volunteer position at the Met’s Costume Institute. Contributes to Interview magazine’s Small Talk column.

Takes first steady job in New York, working for Pop artist Andy Warhol at Interview. “On his first day at work,” editor Bob Colacello later says, “André turned up in khaki safari shirt and Bermuda shorts, with matching knee socks, topped off by a hunter’s helmet from Abercrombie & Fitch. . . . We dubbed him André de Interview, because he often answered the phone with a festive ‘Bonjour!’ ”[9] Soon, Talley is promoted from receptionist to fashion editor.

"what's the name of your clothing line?? WE DON'T KNOW" :dead:

You don't know what empowering yourself means?

None of that is true. I'll guess that you're a few years younger than me so you have a lot of unchecked aggression and are quick to be offended by any opinion other than your own. You're prepared to argue with me about a man who neither of us know. I didn't defend or attack him. I just alluded to the fact that dudes on the Coli hate on Kanye or whoever 90% of the time because it's the thing to do. I've transcended the herd mentality. You guys embrace it..that's all. So like I said. Those who can't do...hate on the Coli. A play on words of the Old saying that references teaching.
If the only reason you defend Kanye is to be a contrarian "against the herd" you are no better than the herd you thumb your nose at.

Do you not think people might be looking at Kanye sideways because he is just behaving strange? Why is it that if someone doesn't agree with you, its a "herd" thing, even though the whole reason you disagree with anyone here is to "be different"?

but what is behaving normal for a top level artist?

People forget that not everyone is so consumed w/ being liked...it is actually about the art to some people. Its super rare in hip hop because everyone is a "hustler not a rapper".
Why would anyone want to think like everyone else? Everyone else is a critic, while a few people are actually doing. Its easy to say how so and so should behave when youre on the sidelines.
