kareem is a bozo. he also said dirk should have went to college. :mjlol:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says Dirk's career wasn't 'dominant' and he's very wrong

:jbhmm:

Rebounding percentage is the WOAT "analytic" stat because it does not take into account playing actual defense...unless it is applied to a player who is actually good at defense...

Kareem actually played defense and actually guarded offensive big men and actually switched on pick and rolls...so he has to challenge the shot then fight over box outs then get the rebound and he has to do this all over the court since he was an actual good defender who was expected to play defense...

Dirk on the other hand never guards the other teams best offensive big...he has always had another big do that...Dirk has never played anything remotely resembling defense...Dirk hasn't switched on a pick and roll in what...5 years...so he is just standing around chasing a rebound the second it leaves a shooters hand...seeing as how Dirk is never ever guarding anybody...

If Kareem played defense like Dirk...shyt if any great big man played defense like Dirk...there rebound percentage would be sky high

That was so irrelevant to the question. He was asked about a go to move and then spun that into calling him a one trick pony and hasn't been a dominant player, both being blatantly false.

Scoring in and of itself takes versatility, and Dirks the most versatile scoring big man this games has ever seen and makes him a great offensive player in general. His historically low turnover percentage as an anchor, elite rebounding in the playoffs during his prime, insane average in elimation games and general dominance on the postseason stage (even before 2011) makes much of what Kareem said invalid. IIRC it's not the first time he's had disparaging remarks about him either

no title team in history has won without their roleplayers filling in the blanks around their stars. what everyone means when they see he won it alone is he didn't have any other all stars on his team.

EXACTLY!!!

Dirk one of the few players that never had another superstar of his level playing with him, Duncan had robinson and then manu and parker.

So much truth, I've said this for years!!!

Watching a game on tv versus watching one player all game in person gives you a much better perspective. I've been an off/on mavs season ticket holder since they were in reunion arena when he was the 3rd option behind nash and finley.

Yes absolutely he got so much better at his game from an offensive end but watching this guy on defense is almost comical. A lot of guys rather college or pro exaggerate their height but dirk is legit 7ft but watching him the paint over the years fighting for offensive/defensive rebounds is the equivalent of watching earl boykins or spud webb trying it. Most people around the metroplex who follow the mavs have known this forever.

I believe dirk and Carmelo are two of the same kind. Tremendous offensive players who can get any shot they want but their defense leaves much to be desired that's what I've said they are stars NOT "superstars" in my opinion, you gotta do it on both ends. That was a great run to the title a couple of years ago but Stevenson and marion did a number on LeBron and negated a lot of what he likes to do and terry and kidd stepped up big time, dirk didn't lead them to anything, it was other guys and not to mention barea.

He is right..let's say Dirk defended and rebounded like KG with his own offensive game, that is a top 5 ever potential player. He isn't downplaying what Dirk did but he is saying if he had an all around game, he could have been in that conversation.

And the converse could be said for KG. You could pinpoint a weakness or shortcoming that would vault any great player to top 5hood if they were to become great at it. Everybody can't be top 5 though. You gotta have a 6-50 as well. Dirk wasn't dominant all-around but he was dominant scoring the ball.

Nobody is acting like the role players didnt play well, but Dirk was FAR AND AWAY the single most important piece to that title run

I feel stupid for even having to tell someone that

Exactly so the status or reputation of those players is irrelevant. How they perform is all that matters. You got all-stars that freeze up in the playoffs and you got role players that step up. It's one thing if your lack of all-stars forces you do have to dominate multiple aspects of the game like Dream and Duncan but Dirk was still allowed to just focus on scoring and those role players took care of everything else.

:whoa: now this is going too far in the other direction. Dirk most definitely did lead that team. Now him carrying a bunch of role players is certainly overblown but he most definitely keyed that run.

The narrative - particularly on The Coli - that Dirk Nowitzki single-handedly took his team and won a championship is overblown and utterly ridiculous
i didnt know this was a narrative anywhere?

lmaoooo, all that guy asked was is dirks fadeway shot is the best unblockable shot since skyhook and then he proceeded to call out dirk on his lack of game in certain areas and shyt like that criticizing dirk like kareem was asked if dirk is top 10 ever or some shyt like that :russ: its like old man was waiting someone to ask about dirk to let that shyt off his chest as if dirk did something bad to him in his life :dead:

Tell me yall how many times did kareem win nba title without the help of another all star or superstar? I'll wait :sas2:

A supposed to be 2nd goat could not do shyt with them lakers until Magic came to town, meanwhile dirk lead that 06 mavs squad to finals, beating san antonio, while having eric dampier as his big man help on the team
