They don't actually. He does a great job against elite big men and is one of the best post defenders in this game.

Never said he shuts down guards, but on switches he does as great a job as a big man can and helps to hold them to a low percentage. If you don't walk away impressed by how he defends smaller players on a nightly basis, I'm not sure you're evaluating his defense objectively.
